It is odd that the APC40 appear to select the clip that is playing when it launches it by default. When I launch a clip it does not select the clip for clip view, the clip/track button does call up the track correctly. This was a pretty big oversight and I hope it is addressed in a future update here. This would allow the correct clip that is playing to be viewed when the clip/track button is pressed and that track is selected.
Maybe I'm missing something here..
this from the manual,, pg 472
"Four buttons below the dials give you additional control options. Clip/Track lets you switch
between viewing the devices on a track or the properties of the clip currently playing on that
track. Device On/Off turns the currently selected device on or off. Device Left and Device
Right (indicated by two arrows) shift you one step sideways along a track's device chain."

Select via on launch via midi???

Re: Select via on launch via midi???
You're correct, this is not working as of yet, but I am sure the Ableton guys are working on it.
What I did for now is MIDI map the Cue/Level knob to the scene select box (the box with the numbers when in MIDImap mode), and the Nudge +/- to the scene up and down arrows. That way I can scroll quickly to the scene I want with the Cue/Level knob, and more precisely select a scene one by one with the nudge +/- button. When you select a track and then the scene that clip will be automatically selected, so that your Clip/Track button on the APC will display the clip correctly.
Hope this helps... until a fix is coming.
Thanks,
Ken

Re: Select via on launch via midi???
Tell me if I'm misunderstanding. Are you talking about when you select a clip, it does not go into clip view and does not show the graphic for the clip? If you're viewing the properties of a plugin or intsrument, wouldn't you want it to stay in that view when you switch to a new clip? If you're in clip view(SHIFT + TAB to toggle) and you launch a new clip, it will switch to that clip as long as: Preferences > Record/Warp/Launch > Select on Launch is set to ON.
Is this whay you mean?
