Volume on extern audio device

Hi all,

When I use the extern audio device and put my synth on it it works all nice, recording etc.
The only problem I have is that the volumefader doesn't respond on that specific channel
I think I do something wrong?

Can you explain your signal path in greater detail? For example, are you running an external hardware synth into Live, or a software synth out of Live to external gear?

Are you running a signal out of Live then into external gear then back into Live?

Is the External Audio Device in a rack?

Yes I run an external synth into live. (Nord wave into firewire interface)
The signal comes in Live as audio
connections midi in midi out and output left and right to the extern interface
Than I use Live external instrument and the signal response well
Now the volumefader doesn't respond. I only can set the volume on the synth.

Do you mean the volume fader for the channel with the External Audio Device in it?

So you get a good signal in the External Audio Effect meters?

Do you have the External Audio Device set like this:
1. Audio From - Gain: turned up to get a good level.
2. Dry/Wet: full right: Wet.

Are you using effects sends on their incoming synth channel? Have you checked their Pre/Post setting?

Is there a particular reason that you are using an External Audio Device rather than Live's Input/Output routing in the channel? I would advise that you use the channel routing I/O instead of the External Audio Device. The I/O has less gain stages, no hidden gain controls, & is more direct.

I'll use Live external instrument device so that I can tweak the sound of my synth in playback

OK, hope that's the key.

I still don't see why you chose an External Audio Effect to get the sound into Live. Enlighten me!

Do you know about Live's input/output options in each channel (as set up in Live preferences)?

Well, its not the external effect but the external instrument device that I use.
For use with a external synthezizer (sends midi and returns audio)
I made a new set up and the volumefader works so I think it was a incorrect setting.
