How to get this sound: Young Punks

Post by Aequitas123 » Wed Jun 03, 2009 8:17 pm

Young punks have a track on the new Fight Night game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_krHaMia ... re=related

at 40 seconds in the string section that i like starts. Theres some sidechain type automation and then at 43 sec there string type instrument is chopped up.

how would you guys try and achieve this? is is gated? a quick release? all automation?

thanks and sorry for the newbish post.

Well, in honor of your 1000th post (I'm well behind you), I'll give it a whack. I likey the song. It sounds like a steep crossfade trick where you faid into silence with a fader flip at the very begining of each horn section sample. You could slice the sample to a new drum rack kit and play those samples on the 'B' side of the crossfader and silence on the 'A' side.

Anybody know if the crossfader in live has a slope selector for hard slicing? If not, a hardware trick.

Thank you UE! I think the drum rack is probably a good idea. I'll also give the crossfader a shot.
