Which systym in combination with ableton live8

Post by d_tronic » Thu Jun 04, 2009 1:33 pm

Hi there,

I'd like to buy a new desktop and I'm not sure what's he best processor in combination with ableton live 8. Please help me out.

I'm thinking about the following options.

- i7 processor
- quadcore processor
- dual core processor

I want a processor that makes it possible to use a lot of vst's and plugins without causing any delays.

What is going to work "best" with live 8 is really not the question. The question more so should begin by focusing on what else you are going to use the computer for. Is this a dedicated system for music only? What OS will you be using? What VSTs are you intended on using in Live 8? Do the VST devices that you are using depend on large numbers of preloaded in memory samples?

These types of generalities and specifics should come FIRST. It means nothing to go out and get the most killer system imaginable if you are not tailoring that system to your specific needs. *You must first understand your boundaries before you can excel within them.

A humble nod to the late GREAT David Carradine. You will be missed. :(

i7 is the way to go if you're building a new system today. You can get some impressive parts for about $1000.
