The price of operator.

Post by DJ VAKIS » Sat Jan 22, 2005 11:21 am

Operator is very good.If you dont like it dont buy it,thats it.
Have seen how many people working at Ableton? They live out of this sofware company. Please guys dont complain about the price of operator. If operator is expensive dont buy it,thats it.
We need to talk about other things and not about operator price.

finnally I agree with someone in this forum!!! let them live, eat and pay taxes!!! it's their bussiness anyway, no? They've been working hard to give us a final update for this version (4.x) to make Live more stable and efficient... and tey are giving us the possibility to buy a great synth (like it or not) that fits perfectly in our DAW. But if U already have tons of synths or do not need another one... it's ok!, use the last version to keep doing what U should be doing with it.... MUSIC!!!!! so let's create and stop loosing time on this ridiculous points that if it is expensive or not, free or whatever... c'mon... this forum is becoming useless and no sense.... stop it...

totally valid points ppl, of course thats the truth

my only gripe is the fact i cant get operator off my device list, it may seem trivial to some but after a long time of instrument selection and streamlining i really dont want to see a demo in my device list

OK, I won't buy it. :D

Yes, I think it's a nice synth, but: (i) I think it's too expensive; (ii) does it come as a VSTi or DX instrument? If not, it's of little interest.

Sure the tutorial is good, and a great way to learn how to program a synth - but why buy another one? I've already got a few I've paid for, I think I'll stick to those.

As for it appearing on the browser list in demo mode, no big deal.

I don't think there is something obcessive compulsive in the fact of not wanting to have operator's demo in his instrument list.
Ask any psychologist, artists need to get their space very "clean" to create. The surrounding smeel, the color of the walls, every detail counts. Your creative space is like a very fragile ecosystem, so don't mock ppl who want that "unwanted dot on the canvas" removed. If you never encountered this "obcessive compulsive" feeling, you are just not an artist, mate. ;) also in good humour, btw

Lets make a simple calculation.

we have 100 people and after reading all the threads here i think
mayby only 10 people? are going to pay the 150 for operator.

Ableton is making 1500!

But what if our ableton friends are making operator 50 dollar.
As loyal fans much more people gonna buy it...mayby 50?

Ableton is making 2500!

Everybody happy

I agree .. while being a fantastic synth .. 149.00 is way too steep for a synth that is not available as vst/dx and is not that much more than a simple fm synth. make it under 100 bucks and people will sure be happier buying it.

I thought for a while : "you're not going to add your stupid opinion about Operator's price ? Forget it and play music..."

But finally, after reading so many posts on the subject, I decided that I hate being taught lessons like "these people have to live and pay taxes, you know ! So don't criticize !". Hate that.
I'm a grown adult and able to feel that this (nice) softsynth is WAY overpriced, as great a company Ableton can be besides that. We all have to live and as a pro musician, I do know what it means.

I'm not angry, pissed-off, deceived or anything :
"too expensive ! said he..."
