What use is a frickin' SD slot? That seems like it is just the re-emergence of the floppy drive. There must be some new marketing genius over at Apple...

Actually, I'm digging the black keys on the new ones. The silver keys on my current one are already all smudged, dirty, and discolored. The black covers that upoblique strategies wrote:+1 ugh!aizo wrote:still hate the black keys and the black ring around the screen

Try washin' your hands ya dirty bastid!
Does anyone know if they upgraded the processors to a newer model? Seems like the 17" is the same as it was before... did they shave some $ off the price?

I like the black keys too. They're laid out a little different then the aluminum ones, they have a little more space between the keys - which is a wise improvement. Plus they remind me of the ancient PowerBooks - or were they the Titaniums? Every once in a while I see someone still using one of those. Gotta love the longevity.aqua_tek wrote:Actually, I'm digging the black keys on the new ones. The silver keys on my current one are already all smudged, dirty, and discolored. McBoob, is there any sort of clearance sale going on at B&H for the older models now that the new ones are out?

Firewire is good on the 13", too bad about the Expresscard slot.. better for audio interfaces.. lowest latency

I like the actual keyboard, just not the two-toned colour scheme of these laptops.Sales Dude McBoob wrote:I like the black keys too. Yeah, the Echo Indigo DJ was my perfect solution for laptop djing - 24 bit, 2x stereo outs, weighs about 150 grammes, low latency, well designed and solid drivers...ground_control wrote: You see, I've always liked my echo indigo pcmia interface for djing; it works really well and means I don't have to carry another box around.
Major bummer that they dropped the PCMCIA slot from PC slaptops also. My Indigo's been gathering dust since...
cheers,

huge wtf. a usb sd reader is what, five bucks? this replaced an express card slot on a "pro" machine? maybe they've got some supergenius sd interface thingamabob planned that hasn't been revealed yet.GrooveNinja wrote:What use is a frickin' SD slot?... Shame to see they still don't make a 15" model with a 1680 * 1050 screen. I can get 15" Dells or Thinkpads with that resolution why not a macbook pro?

It's crazy... I've got the MBP with 2 firewire + expresscard from before they were unibody & tried to sell it about a month ago and couldn't...
I'd be better off with a new one considering i have 0 devices that utilize either interface... yet no one bit on my deal. Now new ones come out minus those two features and people wish they were like the OLD ones.
*sigh*
