Make a keyboard cat video with Youtube clips in Live 7/8

Ah YouTube... how you overflow with ripe targets. Here's how to sic the keyboard cat on anything you like:

1) Find a suitable clip on YouTube. I used this one:

2) Go to http://www.keepvid.com, insert the URL of this clip as well as the keyboard cat URL, of course (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J---aiyznGQ). You can also use a Firefox extension called Video DownloadHelper (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006) to grab the HQ video.

3) Make sure you download the Higher Quality (HQ) .mp4 file for each video.

4) Convert the .mp4 to a .mov Quicktime using Quicktime Pro or another tool. You are looking to change the container format only from .mp4 to .mov so that we can use these files in Ableton Live. If this confuses you read this: http://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/ ... 67564.html

5) All right... hard part is over. Now for the fun. Drag your new .mov files into the arrangement view.

Remember, in the arrangement view the bottom most video is going to be the one that is visible when you render the video. For the purposes of a video like this you can probably stick with whatever defaults Ableton gives you. I rendered to a QuickTime Movie, but feel free to try other configurations if you dare.

If you have Live 8 you can see just how dead simple this is by downloading a live set of this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n53CbTMd3Kc) here:

Once you've figured out how to do this, you can then move on to making goofy things like this:
