upgrade from live suite 7 to live 8 suite cost :_____
_________
IF I DO NOT GET AN ANSWER i WONT UPGRADE TO THE SUITE!!!!!!! so if anyone from ableton can answer this please!!!!!

Re: If I upgade to live 8 suite....
You're asking ableton to speculate what something will cost that is not even created yet?
odd.
I think you can expect the upgrade costs from one suite version to the next to remain fairly consistent. How else should it work? This is not fruity loops with free upgrades for life.

Re: If I upgade to live 8 suite....
First, the question reflects a valid concern because the upgrade to L8 is higher than most, and the Suite is an expensive product. Live is now one of the most expensive platforms to get into - the Suite is more expensive than Logic and Cubase, and costs 12x the price of Reaper.
My suggestion is to not ream the OP for a stupid question but instead, address the concern. Agreed that there is no way to determine what has not yet been built.
So my suggestion to the OP is to step back a second and ask yourself IF or WHY you are worried about the upgrade at all. I bought L7 about 1.5 years before L8. When L8 came out, I didn't have any real NEED for L8. I upgraded because I wanted to. L7 was rock solid and had everything I needed to make great music.
Same with operating systems...I see no NEED to go to Win7. XPSP3 is rock solid and, so far, has the best latency of any OS out there. I have no NEED to upgrade. I have a faint desire, but even that is in check with respect to stability and latency and performance - until Win7 proves to me it's worthy, I'm sticking with XP, and I don't give a rat's ass that it's 8 years old.
So step back for a minute and say to yourself, "At what point will the Live8 Suite tap me out of my potential so that I'll need more." As a producer for almost 18 years, I can tell you honestly that buying Live8 Suite has enabled me to pretty much stop using most of my other synths, most of my other effects...and every time I take a shit, I'm reading the manual on the can, and I continue to get amazed at the limitless potential of the Suite. At this point, and probably for a long while, I will have no NEED to go the next level. This will be even more the case once Max4Live comes out and breaks down even more boundaries.
I've felt for some time now that technology has begun to surpass desire. Meaning that as more and more version of products are released, it gets harder and harder for companies to convince us that we NEED this stuff. Mainly because so many of our needs are already met.
I hope this was some food for thought.

Re: If I upgade to live 8 suite....
When I upgraded from 7 to 8 Suite, the price was lower than it would have been otherwise because I already had 7 Suite.
If I had to guess, I would guess the price of upgrading from 8 to 9 will be less than the price of upgrading from 8 Suite to 9 Suite, which will be less than the price of upgrading from 8 to 9 Suite. That's the only policy that makes sense to me.

When you login to the Ableton site, and go to "shop" then "upgrades" it will tell you exactly how much it costs for you to upgrade based on what you own.WaveRider wrote:WaveRider wrote:

you bunch of f* idiots. I am not asking how live 9 will cost but how much more it cost to upgrade the suite versus the cost of upgrading the live only version

yeah but you know what? if my annual upgrade cost 359$ in place of 189$, then its going to be no suite for me, cause I won't be able to keep up with upgrades
cause an apc40 + upgrades + max4live is going to be costly enough, and I want to be able to update the core of the program in the future at a cost I can afford
and if I can't get a straight answer I won't bother risking a 350$ price tag on my next upgrade of live
..the fun part is that I trying to know that info since live 6.

Damn, that's a great idea, also handy if you realise there's no roll, having passed the point of no return.nebulae wrote: ...and every time I take a shit, I'm reading the manual on the can,

Re: If I upgade to live 8 suite....
i believe it cost me around $240 to upgrade from the fully loaded 7 to the fully loaded 8.
but that was for the box version. would have been cheaper download only.

Re: If I upgade to live 8 suite....
Ableton upgrades used to be the best as they gave educational discounts, meaning I could afford to upgrade Live 6 to Live 7 Suite without too much pain, as a qualifying educational status. Removing this discount is still something that rankles with me and something which I still believe is a poor business decision.
However, the Live 7 Suite to Live 8 Suite cost with no educational discount available any more was 229 dollars download version. This is a significant amount and one would expect that this cost will not decrease on the next upgrade. Given that the next upgrade is likely to happen within 12-18 months, Live is becoming a very expensive tool. Not to mention that Max For Live will cost several hundred dollars and will probably add to the upgrade costs next time too.... As much as I love Live, I fear that they do risk losing some of their customer base with these pricing policies.
I upgraded Cubase SX3 to C5, a 2 generation upgrade for only $199. Having done this, I couldn't afford the Live upgrade. Perhaps I will upgrade at Live 9, Live 7.0.16 runs fine for me right now. I did enjoy Live 8 Suite in beta testing though, so it's a pity that the recession is limiting my choices here as I would like to upgrade.

Thanks for helping leisuremuffin...

thanks a lot you 2 guys!
yeah that was the info I needed. so really it is not that bad. $40 more than upgrading the non-suite version (for me anyway...) so I guess I will pony up that extra 40$ every year to upgrade the suite....leedsquietman wrote: the Live 7 Suite to Live 8 Suite cost was 229 dollars download version.
yep yep yep... really from Live4 to Live8 + all the bells and whistles that's getting to be a fair amount of cash. In not that much time... so it may be reasonable to pass over some versions... I never could, but now I could stay with 7, as it does what I need, but again I won't be able to resist... even as I have been resisting for some weeksleedsquietman wrote: Not to mention that Max For Live will cost several hundred dollars and will probably add to the upgrade costs next time too....
