I can kind of argee and sympathise with the overextending himself thing..I've been using Final Scratch for 18Months and whilst it's an amazing idea and has greatly expanded my record collection whilst stopping my back from hurting...it has also GREATLY EXPANDED MY RECORD COLLECTION! 80 tunes in a record bag or 600+ in a laptop...you try and remember them all..plus...with records you get the mental association with the colour/look of a sleeve or record label....with Mp3's and wav's you don't. I guessing its the same problem...so many possibilities it can be difficult to know where to direct yourself, let alone remembering which combination of tunes from 600+ might go next into the mix! Perhaps (hopefully) he's style will settle down once he gets used to the mental task of sorting tunes and idea's before implementing them!

imo Airdrawndagger and Involver are really great records overall. A

esoteric, and ... unless done really interesting ... almost entirely
lacking in emotion, harmony, and melody
That stuff takes way more technical tweaking and electronic tricks than
musical inspiration. Sour grapes maybe? Dunno ...

i would have to say that the set i saw him do on ableton in fabric in dec was great, he put the thing to great use and seemed to be enjoying himself. Picking up on a previous post i dont think he potrays himself as a producer, he is quite shy by all accounts and many of the things said about him are said about his fans. BTW he hasntdone the whitney thing in about 13 years, thats not his alley, it was back then when that was the thing. i think a lot of people comment without listening to the stuff he does, a good example is the bloke that brought back involver. i didnt like it at first, i listened to it for a month or so and now i couldent do without it.

But as I said...he's pushing the boundaries HE feels he should....not necessarily those everyone should push towards....he's just doing his thing his own unique way. Wish I'd gone to Fabric in December now!

i think i just caught him on a bad night live, and I was disappointed.
i still love to listen to lots of his old stuff, never grown tired of it and airdrawndagger is brilliant.
i suppose, after his longevity, I am just expecting/hoping he goes crazy and hits Miles Davis levels, and that is just off the scale.
