Composing General Midi music in Live.
I want the end result to be a decent .mid
What do I need? I have a Mac, so I guess a AU GM Synth?
Can I use the default GM Synth of OS X? How do I assign it to a track? How do I export that correctly?

Re: Composing General Midi music in Live.
The GM Synth of OS X is available in Live as AU plugin, called "DLSMusicDevice".
Just assign it to MIDI tracks like any other AU instrument. Send program change to select a patch.
Note however that Live doesn't export multi-track MIDI files but only single tracks (clips).

Thanks.
How do I send a program change? I know little about GM. And how can I make one combined midi, with wat program? Is there better software than live for GM composing?

For info about GM read this

Personally I'm using Logic for MIDI composing.
It's much more powerful than Live in this area (but not easy to use).

so simple with reaper for example.. little waste of time to tranfer everything for mixing down and export.
