Ecler Nuo 5 - beatsynchronising

Post by dee » Fri Aug 06, 2004 12:33 pm

Hi,
I bought the Ecler Nuo 5 mixer yesterday:

http://www.djforums.com/reviews/mixers/ecler_nuo5.php

Apart from a effect processor it also features midi out - I connected it to my soundcard and would sync the signal from the mixer with Live. Well, it isn't 100% precise (guess the internal beatcounter of the Nuo is not the best). But then - finally a way to sync the DJ set with Live.

Have you got experience with the Nuo, how do you sync Live to a DJ set?

Andreas

Did anyone got the chance to try the nuo 5 with a Drum&Bass beat and see if the internal bpm-counter is capable of counting the bpm (and putting out a correct midi clock)? My experience with these counters is that they completely go bananas if you play a beat that’s not straight 4 to the floor.

Thanks

quite right! After two weeks of checking I replaced the Nuo with a Pioneer DJM 600 - beat synchronising wouldn't really work, even with straight house beats ...

Hopefully the next generation of dj mixers will be more sophisticated in terms of midi
