Live and Akai Mpd 24 assign question

I wonder if the mpd 24's 8 rotary knobs can work the same way as the Apc 40 ones.
(or mackie control)
I mean : select a track and then control parameters for that track (effects,instruments, pans etc)
If yes is it the default behaviour or needs programming ?
I don't have this controller so any input is welcome.

Yes, they can work that way and it's default behavior. Also the faders control volume levels by default.

The one disadvantage of the MPD24 compared with, say, the MPD32 is that the knobs on the MPD24 aren't laid out in the same pattern as the macro knobs in Live.

I see..., that lay out can be little confusing in some cases.
