Hm, in the longer description this sounds like one of the few bugs I reported or something related. When using a third party plug-in when I changed a preset the MIDI keyboard would no longer play anything and I'd have to go to the Live interface and hit the MIDI button off and on again.

They never fixed this?!?

Sorry, I stopped beta testing midway because of outside factors.

May not be exactly the same thing. On most plug-ins on on mac, clicking anywhere inside the gui of the plug-in takes focus away from the computer keyboard, so you can not for example use the spacebar to start/stop anymore or use the octave keybaord on your keys to trigger notes. You have to click anywhere outside the plug-in, in the ableton window somewhere, to make the qwerty keyboard work with live again.

I guess with "MIDI keyboard" you mean the qwerty-MIDI input. Yes, that's the second most important case, where it's counterproductive: When you are using Live 8 on a laptop and want to play some notes with the qwerty keyboard, while you adjust parameters in a plugin's editor.

All I know is that on a Mac, in Live 7, the main Live window did not lose focus when you changed a parameter in a plugin, and in Live 8 it does.

It's been registered as a bug, I think it was Jan from ableton who said they were working on it, but apparently not for the release.

Live v8.0.4 Update Improvements wrote:- On Mac OS X, if the custom dialog of a plug-in would not process incoming keys Live will handle them. Depending on the plug-in, this should provide a similar work flow as in Live 7.
Works like expected! Thank you, folks at Ableton! :D
