I'd STILL kill for a good LFO filter for dubstep bass
Re: I'd STILL kill for a good LFO filter for dubstep bass
my bad on double post,
i do the same thing interpolate is talking about. works like a charm man, you set the LFO so that it's wobbling hard and fast, then automate the LFO rate (synced) in the clip. keep trying at it, great results for myself.

Hey Y'all
What do you think about the LFO Freq. Sweep on the Allen and Heath Xone 92?
I know its hella expensive and I understand if you dont know
I like it's sound but it is external and you have to dance with it and record the results to Audio......
I ran a Kaoscillator through the Xone 92 and I liked it.
I'm still a noob and haven't made anything with this method yet but I was thinking that is what I'd try next
I still real new to Massive but I havent been able to get what I want out of it yet. Where's the Whomp button? (joke)
Anyway there is my 2 cents.
I'd love to hear what you guys think.

This thread keeps on going
It would be good if someone could explain the best way of doing this with Operator.
There's a good tutorial on Youtube on how to do it with Simpler but doing it without samples would be nice too.

I really like operator for this stuff. You can layer a few OSC one Sin a saw and then some square in there and you can just rock the LFO built in to the filter.

Re: I'd kill for a good LFO filter for dubstep basses....
Hey Phat, Have you tried using a "looped" envelope instead of an LFO to modulate freq in Sampler? For me this works a lot better than an LFO cause you have control over the attack and decay slopes which allows for a more "wap wap wap" kinda sound. As for the filters in Sampler... mmm yeah a bit weak, but I find using the shaper can smooth them out a bit and get rid of some of the squeakyness. The Phat Conductor wrote:i'm talking about for samples.
i know how to use a synth
i'll check out the fabfilter volcano soon...
so is there really no way to do it in ableton or sampler? i mean... i know it can be 'done' but i'm talking about done WELL...
I've also been using fabfilter stuff for a little while now... can't say enough good things about it. Volcano is probably the best sounding software filter I've heard and the modulation possibilities are endless.

BP12 and
LP12
both sound bad
ive never had a problem with the bp 6 and lp 6 unless i turn up the Q, but i never use the resonance so... this may be a huge issue for you

+1000000000 for FabFilter Volcano. I love it. Absolutely awesome in every way.
I also use SoundToys FilterFreak (http://www.soundtoys.com/products/FilterFreak/) a lot for modulated filter FX. It sounds beautiful, overdrives like a real analogue filter and its unbelievably flexible - I particularly like the way you can skew the LFO symmetry... great for shaping your wobbles. I'd recommend the SoundToys Native bundle to anyone who likes FX. It ain't cheap, but its worth it!

Runciter in the Uhbik bundle from U-He. It doesn't have a built in LFO though, so you'll have to use clip envelopes. Or wait until Uhbik-X gets added to the bundle in a few months, as that will provide more mod sources for all the uhbiks.

there's your depth slider right there along with other mods.
right-click any knob for that popup mod settings window.

Hey Phatt,
When you say that Samplers lfo squeaks does it happen mostly when it's going really fast and does it sound kind of like a bit crusher?
I was messing with Simpler a bunch yesterday and kept noticing this bitcrushed / ring mod sounding thing going on when the lfo would go fast.

nope. even when it goes slow...
it's horrible.
i'll post an example when i get a minute. i'm just working on someone's library right now and am kind of on the clock.
and BTW: i tried volcano... sounds amazing, but WHAT a processor hog! and man do those LFOs ever click when you change sync'd time.

i just want the ones in sampler to work.... waaah!
