Can anyone explain how to sidechain with Waves C1 in Live?

I have Waves Gold 5 academic. It doesn't work with Live 8, so I'm using my old copy of Live 7.

I'm not able to get the bass to compress with the kick via sidechaining. I've ready the Waves manual, but it only explains using sidechaining for deessing (and I can't get that to work either).

Can anyone shed a little light on this problem? Thank you.

I can't remember the in's and outs of this one, but I do know you can't use the sidechain function in Live for the C1. These is a work around using the left channel of the compressor to sidechain the right channel. This means that you can only have mono signals which shouldn't be to much of a problem as the kick and bass are likely to be in mono anyway.
