Guess I'm being stupid, but.......... I can get midi into live with the computer keyboard by selecting the 'computer keyboard' in the MIDI FROM panel, but I can't get it to see my MIDI'd up keyboard (Roland PC160). My set-up is an Apple ibook, and an M-Audio Firewire 410 interface.
No laughing - Please help.

Everybody at some stage was new at ANYTHING...so dont beat yourself over it...
First starting point with 410 is to make sure you switch it on at the correct time. Mac first then 410...Once both on, open Core Audio in dock for Audio/Midi setup. 410 options should be available there for Audio and MIDI. If not then it is not finding the 410...get that working first.
Second, when ready open live and goto preferences, then midi/sync and if setup on core audio correct, the 410 options will be present.
Note, I dont use the 410 for midi but MOTU timepeice but setup should be the same regardless
hope that helps
