lol

and btw ... its easy to polarize people online into "worshippers" and "haters" and ... again .. probably looks like I am defending this guy at all costs, but

What he did all the way thru the 90's .. especially late 90s... was classic imo. Inspired a lot of people.

truth is about his DJ sets the past couple of years, he was still good but i was often not digging a lot of the tracks he was playing. Kindof lazy i think.

airdrawndagger and involver? Great stuff

His new Live sets? No clue, mixed reports, I will have a chance to see
him again up close next month so I guess I get an idea then ..

Alot of you have bought into the hype. Sasha and his management have been building his reputation as a "Legend" for years. No shows at gigs, clubbers were always wondering if he was going to turn up or not, giving this idea that when he did turn up you were privilaged to be in his pressence. Imho i think he is an overhyped dj, john digweed has the real skill between the two. As for some of you saying he pushed boundries..What boundries? he hasn't done anything that hadn't been done on the real underground scene ages before him. And because now he's using a laptop and ableton for his sets, some of you think this he's the first one to do this. Dj's have been using laptops over the past couple of years to do live mixes. Fabric in london has showcased these dj's before. I remember reading an artical in MIXMAG and sasha stated he would never use cd's in his dj sets, now his uses them religiously. He's cashed in on all the hype and laughing all the way to the bank.

I'm surprised this hasn't turned into a mac vs. pc thread yet.
Which does sasha like best?

2 layered toilet paper or 6 layered with the smell of flowers?

Around these parts, if a dj has no valid reason for not coming to a gig he was supposed to. He doesn't have to show up ever again.

Privileged my ass.

TBH, I'd much rather just listen to Underworld. Their arrangements piss all other this stuff...

if youre not into the progressive style of house then you will dislike / not appreciate what sasha has done / continues to do for dance music. IMO, at the core of what makes him unique is his impeccable taste.

no matter how great of a producer or engineer you are, if you dont have a feel for whats appropriate, a sensitivity to your surroundings, and the ability to convey that properly to the masses then youre just piled in with the rest. sasha and digweed alike have been successful a long time because they have those qualities.

progressive itself is "moving forward" and sasha is always doing that. his invlover album is a prime example.

you dont have to love every move he makes to appreciate and respect his mark on dance music.

take a listen to the old QAT mixes he did in the early ninties. my favorites of all time.

how does sasha's rectum taste?
seriously. did he have Carrots for a snack today, or a light Salad?
you would seem to be the expert on that.

having grown up in the UK and been 18 in 1988 (the year dance broke) i can honestly say that i think the world would have been a better place if sasha's mum had just given his dad a w*nk

he did nothing but play other peoples records for the best part of a decade, and he charged stupid amounts of money to do it.

now he's got a computer he's a genius!!

so there

OT

Yo Adam, listening to your September 2003 set at Paxahau. Nice set man. What are you working with there? Tables or were you using Ableton at that gig?

I've got a lot of work to do tonight so I'll probably check out your latest set after this.......

Yeah, everyone should check out the archives section at PAXAHAU, streaming real audio dj and live pa sets dating from 2001 til the present. List includes magda (love her!), Richie Hawtin, Akufen, Deadbeat, Speedy J, Chris Leibing, Sammy Dee, Pantytec, Green Velvet, Kevin Saunderson, Josh Wink, Adam Beyer, Steve Bug, Herbert, Monika Kruse, John Selway, Christian Smith, Carl Craig, our very own Adam Jay and shitloads of others I didn't mention.

Peace.
