DJ MODE AUTO WARP STRAIGHT PLEASE

Post by wagon cookin » Sat Jun 20, 2009 6:41 pm

Hey guys,

Ableton live 8 is great, but we thinks that it still needs a "DJ mode autowarp" to identify correctly the first beat of the song and to warp straight from there, placing just one transient marker at the start like "Deckadance" or "Traktor pro" makes so good.

It is so hard to do that manually everytime you use long samples, not only for songs also for remix parts etc.....

thanks in advance.

Some times you need to doit by yourself.
Or do you need the computer to make the music it self?http://forum.ableton.com/posting.php?mo ... 1&t=117841#

oh come on, its a tiny feature that makes it more able to be used in a live situation

instead of spending time warping everything before hand

if anything this feature would make the computer do LESS for you because its more like actually dj beat matching

In many songs some times you need to do it manualy.

ok but you contradicted yourself

i understand when i warp tracks that i am letting the computer do it for me, so i can focus on other things. in the cases, im sure hes refering to, all you need is that startpoint/downbeat and tempo

Yes!! the computer does not make the music but it is a gear to do the things easier.

do not waste your time doing things that the computer already can do!!!!!

cheers

See, Ableton has a way of detecting the transients and the first downbeat that works a little different from Traktor and such, because it's not exclusively used for full mixed tracks. It is designed to work on a wide range of audio you trow at it. This sometimes makes it behave a little bit wrong.

All you need to do is select the warp marker that you think is the first downbeat and select "Set 1.1.1 here" from the context menu and then "Warp from here straight". And this is only in the cases Live didn't do it for you in the first place.

Hello SimonPHC,

Yes, of course i know and understand what you mean, but I am only asking for an reliable autowarp option for BPM stable long samples, not for mixed tunes to DJ, i dont understand why "live"always puts a lots of makers in long samples with stable BPM, and i always must to go by myself at the context menu to do "warp from here straight".

most of the times "live" detects transients very crazy, I love Ableton live, but I also work with others like cubase, protools, logic etc... and they detect transients perfect, and in "live" transient matter is to much tedious, many steps to do.

thanks

Live is not for lazy people... I don't see any problem with the warp thing...I can warp a song like in 25 seconds.
