how in gods name can map unmappable shite?
how in gods name can map unmappable shite?
hi,
i have this awesome vst, called ymvst (i think)
it's like a freeware atari sort of soundchip clone
anyway, i cant fucking map the controls, neither can i records the automation in live 8
(wich worked in bloody 7!!!!)
and i have the same problem with z3ta+
does anyone know how to fix this? (because the arepeggiator is hella sweet and i need them automations)
thanks in advance, and if you know anything official about these non working mappings stuffs, please let me know as well
thanks

in the Live box for the plug in, the one that lives in clip view. his the triangle button. Live 8 has a new mode where you click configure (or whatever it's called) then click on the GUI and those are the buttons that show up in the controls.

that's a really cool VST, i don't have Live 8, what i thought you could do is get the sound you want in the VST, record it into ableton, play each sample back in reason, although it can probably be done in ableton's drum packs. But you get alot more channels in 1 reason drum sampler vs 1 ableton drum sampler (so you'd need to open more drums in ableton) which i imagine saves up some CPU, i'm no pro. i imagine that YMCK themselves use a method similar to this for their own tracks.

Re: how in gods name can map unmappable shite?
i had the same problem(unable to map/automate controllers on some vsts)
what fixed it for me was to edit the "options.txt"
and paste in the followining line:
-NoVstGesturesRequired
on vista options.txt is located:C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live 8.0.4\Preferences
on xp it may be something similar
however if your on mac then it maybe something different
btw i found this info here: http://www.ableton.com/pages/faq/vst_and_plugins
(its the "Why aren't my third-party plug-ins working correctly with Live 8's Configure Mode?"bit at the end)
hope this helps
