I have an El Guapo Computer Commuter bag, with all the fixin's. It's enormous. I can fit my machine, oxygen8, Berhinger MX802A, two Rode NT1's, a Terratec Phase 24 USB, big ole' headphones and all the cables needed to hook it all together with room leftover.

Seriously, get a Timbuk2.

I use a regular large O'Neill backpack. I've placed foam padding on the bottom and i have my laptop wrapped in bubble wrap. god that sounds crap doesn't it? but seriously it works fine. i can fit all my dj gear (apart from performing stand+supports)
but i can fit alll cables, headphones, powerstrip, powersupplies, adapters, mice, external harddrive and my UC33.

i might get a strap/laptop case for my Athlon 64 though for extra safety

for my 12" PowerBook i used this backpack from Samsonite. it had a nice padded interior pouch that was the exact size of the PowerBook 12". seeing as it was released at the same time i'm guessing it was designed for this machine in particular. now i have a 12" iBook and that same backpack only the fit is a bit snug for the iBook, which is a bit chubbier all around. in the past i had some expensive Brenthaven T1 for my old TiBook. ugly bag, heavy, kind of annoying. i also had the amazing Z-Case from Zero Halliburton. that thing was insane. looked like something one would use to carry around a bomb, or some other top secret goods. all alluminum, air and water tight, sustains high altitude drop tests etc. if you're worried about protection then i'd go with one of those. they dont' hold a lot of stuff but it should keep your PowerBook safe in just about any imaginable situation. briefcase style but had an detachable shoulder strap that was filled with gel. overall i like the backpack route the best. the Samsonites are real affordable, not real ugly, and have storage for all sorts of stuff. mine has an iPod pouch with headphone out and a cell phone holder. think i paid $30 for it from Compusa. well worth it and much more. wow, who knew one could go on for so long about LUGGAGE?!? oh yeah, and i have an MPC1000 as well and it's a perfect fit for that too. go peep the Samsonite site. good luck though, their site kinda sucks.

i've got a major problem finding a fitting laptop backpack for my acer travelmate 4001 with 15.4" widescreen ..... even the crumpler bags that claim to fit 17" laptops don't seem to hold this size...any ideas?

i have an InCase sleeve for my 12" powerbook. it's quite a bulky sleeve but protects the laptop very nicely.

the rucksack i carry that in is a NorthFace Borealis which has a pocket that the sleeved laptop sits in. perfect.

bear in mind that depending on where you live you might not want people around you to know your carrying any kind of computer equipment.

Please advise poeple.
I would suggest getting a backpack, I've got one from www.burton.com, they tend to have tons of slots, pouches and pockets to hold all your cables, laptop and any other gear you may need to carry...

I've got a Targus laptop bag that fits my 17" screen Dell, my Novation Remote Audio 25... I could probably fit my Access Virus B module in there too if I needed...

For something harder....

http://www.skbcases.com/

I use 2x 6-RU Rack mount cases...... 1 has amps and patch stuff in it
while the other takes my footswitches, drummachine, cables,
powerboards and other messy things.

Just surfing around now I spotted these.... looks interesting....

Reload bags makes messenger bags like timbuk2, but they are a smaller and maybe better quality.
You can get as large or as small a bag from them as you like in the colors/design of your choice with a suitably sized laptop sleeve in the color of your choice that velcro's in:

and no i don't work for them ;)
Powerbook g4 550mhz
Os 10.3
Live 4.1
Reason 2.5
M-audio Radium 49

I was looking at the Burtons myself as my bag is getting too stuffed. The material seems kinda thin on them though. Do you find this to be true?

I also like the look of the M-Audio deluxe http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/S ... -main.html
3ghz Pentium 4 (Prescott), XP Sp2, 1gig Ram, Dual Monitor with Matrox Millenium, MOTU Traveler, Event EZ8 Adat card. Also IBM THinkpad t40 1.6 1 gig ram

I have the regular M-Audio's Studio Pack (the backpack). It's a little boxy, but it works fine. :)
