Permanent crashes

Post by Simon12345 » Fri Jun 26, 2009 1:14 pm

I use Ableton Live 8.0.4 and used 8.0.3, which made no difference in the kind of crashes i got.
The most often one is:

I work on a project, usually one with about 30 tracks and many external vst instruments. Suddenly Live switches off and i got noisy hum on the left channel of my output which does not go away until i restart my computer.

What I use:

PC with windows xp sp 3
audiotrak maya 1010 (asio4all drivers)
many vsts, which worked on other pcs properly
an amd dual core 5200+
3gb ddr ram

Other crashes:

just a box where it says: live will be shut down and then you can only click ok
another one was when I came to the 40st track, then it said, low memory or something and did not move at all
I will put the exact error box textes here as soon as they come again
another one is a visual c++ error

I have the latest driver for everything installed and testet various installation configurations

Help me!

cheers, simon.

the exact error for that is:

title of the box: NI Battery 3 (which is in the track i want to duplicate)

and then below:

Could not allocate DFD memory (not enough memory available)!
Audio engine will be stopped

[ok]

I looked on ctrl+alt+del where i can see how much memory is in use, and i had about 1,5 gb free before duplicating. same with my hard drive, it has 26gb free...

that really seems to be a battery problem as i just saw in the NI forum. but the others still occure.

I'm getting these permanent crashes every half an hour and I have over 1.5GB of RAM spare on all the sessions that are crashing... Whether it's battery, Omnisphere or any VST that uses samples, Ableton 8 can't handle them. This is an Ableton 8 problem and it better be sorted soon or I am coming for my money back. I am at the end of my tether.

it has something to do with your sound card configuration, before i ever used live, this was back in 2001 when i had my turntables running through my soundblaster live, this would happen, if your machine is not a dell or anything of that nature, try dismanteling the kit and then reassemble eveything, be sure and use twisty ties on everything and make sure that no cables are touching anything, also if you unplug cables or connect cables while the machine is on you will get a slight surge and will result in amplification of audio wich will lead to distortion or crackling sounds.
