Various observations / possible bugs 8.04

Post by Ruke » Thu Jun 25, 2009 11:24 am

Hi there

I posted this somewhere else but think it may have been missed so am posting here for the record. Literally.

1. There still seems to be a bug with clip automation in the arrange - something to do with fades.

2. If you add and rename markers whilst in playback. Subsequent playbacks cause glitches and crackles in audio & the disk light [D] in the top right lights up. If you restart live then the problem ceases.

3. Also, I'm noticing on some clips that the timing/sound changes slightly after you 'consolidate' the file. This is only when warping has been used. Consolidate should render the file exactly the same as the warped version. This is a bummer when you spend hours trying to sort your groove.

4. On mac os 10.5.7 when dragging audio channels up or down past the 'visible screen' - there's a serious 'scroll lag' - the same thing occurs when copying/moving clips in the arrange (past the 'visible screen'). The scrolling action should be smooth and swift. Occasionally this results in crashes. Especially when groups are involved.

5. Dragging and dropping into/out of groups is generally a bit glitchy. It'd be useful if the groups where a slightly different colour to the background by default - or somehow a bit more obviously different at a glance - so you can see more clearly what's going on.

6. Also the resizing of multiple groups/tracks seems a little unpredictable. It used to work better in earlier versions of live before groups were introduced. The same for Folding or unfolding multiple groups/tracks.

7. When copying a whole chunks of the arrangement, grouped tracks need to be unfolded in order to copy. This is a pain and lessens the intuitive nature of Live that had so many of us turn to it.

8. Waves renaissance compressor doesn't seem to work in L8.

9. Finally, The master audio out seems to colour the audio in my set up. If I switch to external out 1+2 instead of the master out (which uses 1+2) the sound is slightly clearer than if I go through the master bus. This is on single sources and not a summing issue.

I hope you find the time to take a look at some of or all of the above points.

thanks
