Hi!

I can't see all those stupid posts anymore about Firewire issues and ect....If you got such problems with your Mac running OS X, maybe YOU are the problem! and not the system or your Mac! I am running Mac G3, G4 and G5 with OS X since the first release, and funny enough, I only had problems when I did something stupid, otherwise my Macs kicks ass every day with no problems! So to all your amateures out there! Learn to handle a computer before you start working with Music Applications!

Your Mac DON'T need any special configuration to run audio applications!!

A good idea is to use Techtool Pro once a week to keep your system clean and zappy! that's it!

I am running G3 + G4 + G5 + OSX.3.7 + M-Audio 410 + 3 Extern Firewire HD's in my studio!

Your post shows me that the guy from the music shop is wright...ableton is handling the mac users like shit because mac users are dumb,blind,stupid and find everything you do to them allwright because theire mac is the best machine in the world and everything is allwright..the pay for non working software and the will pay for the update that fixes that again...

mac users should stand up and give ableton a hard time..because things are not allwright...

The state of live 4 in the mac version is a bad joke...

The PC version is running so much better...live for mac should be free..because its still in a beta state

when you have someone inside apple telling you there's a problem with firewire and coreaudio in certain setups then you tend to believe them!

Go and learn about how to speak on public forums....

the real problem is that ableton forums allow poeple like you to join....

i seriously hope that one day you have a problem and need help from someone....obviously you realise that ableton monitors this forum specifically with intensity, and you will get lucky to get anything with an attitude like that.....

oh yeah....sorry.. i forgot that everyone on here is completely useless at using a computer.....

YOU! should learn how to speak on public forums! "Be critical but not cruel!" Heres a lot of Mac users who think that they have to change everything to get the Mac running perfect, but that's not true! Off course some people got problems with all kind of issues in the computerworld we all know that! But it doesent mean that everybody got problems! Thats the point here my dear! My system works perfect because I keep things seperated and simple! Firewire is Firewire! OSX is OSX! Mac is Mac! Software is Software! it's a very simple rule! I hope you understand?

mac is mac, software is software etc....what rubbish are you talking?

Are you suggesting that Firewire, OSX, MAC, software dont communicate???

and for the record, i am using a top of the range mac with no problems..

simple rules for simple poeple maybe?

U should learn some education and respect for those who do not have the grace to share ur vast knowledge in macintosh systems..

macs do need a optimization process..that doesn´t mean they do not work,, it is just a "tune up" that make them run better with audio apps..

and yes,,live runs better on pc..it´s a known fact

no.. ableton staff do not handle mac users like shit..my own experience

mac is in beta stage?? seriously doubt it... I use it on a pro level on both plattaforms..no major problems so far..yes mac need more cpu power.. but nothing that I can´t handle it with the proper set up..

be humble man..and if u have some REALLY useful info...SHARE IT.. otherwise stay away with ur superultrawonderknowledge..

PC's are faster with Live, they do not make you produce better songs or sound better with Live. More overhead is great, but this whole thing is really silly, PC laptops have better CPUs right now = more plug ins, but Live doesn't run "better on PC", Live runs more plug ins on a fast PC. Intel and AMD have really done well on the laptop chips lately, and Apple has not produced a new one in a while.

Also that whole Tracking the Big Cats article is shit. The author showed up over at OSXAudio and I debated him about the merits of his advice, so I broke down and did everything he recommended and further. I erased the hard drive on my powerbook, did everything he outlined and scored EXACTLY the same on the Live 4 performance test here, and the altivec fractal test he recommended.

Tests with an unoptimized system, ( I normally repair permissions once a week, and Discwarrior when I feel the system bog down a bit, but never defrag ), on the same powerbook, before erasing the hard drive and after, produced EXACTLY the same results!

I just want to warn you guys against wasting your time, and if you just have to find out for yourselves, run a few performance tests before and after. EVERYBODY who doubted my findings did not bother testing their machines before optimizing, and "just felt" that their machines were faster.

agreed!...big cats is a complete waste of time if you have a new computer,,......it will only help you if you are using a mac youve installed shitloads on over the years and are trying to clean up for a new start...other than that it pointless.....

mr knowlegde up there suggests we all go get g5's.....from what im hearing the g5 powerbook is going to be single at first....but late 05/ early 06 a dual chip g5 powerbook is going to blow us away....
look out for iHome as well, and iCall.

i didnt tell you of course...hehe
