There were plot holes the size of her boobs on the IMAX screen, but it was still enjoyable.

He pretty much nailed how I felt.
It was so convoluted and confusing, but at the same time being so non-stop action, that you actually do feel like you're a little out of your comfort zone in every way, until you just give yourself to the high-paced absurdity. It sort of reminded me of that genre like "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead", albeit not on purpose. What is that genre called? Theater of the absurd?

I was going to see it today, but wussed out at the last minute and saw Terminator Salvation instead. That was actually better than I was expecting, though still nothing stellar.

Didn't read the whole thing, but yeah... half way through, and yes he nailed this movie with that review.
I loved this movie for it's imagery overload and great shots of Megan Fox. This could not have been a better movie for what it was.
Of course there are the plot holes (time rifts/black holes?), like how the fuck did they walk out of a Smithsonian building into what looked like Arizona? Seriously, WTF? Still, obviously not the point here... It was all about shit get blown up, eye candy (Megan Fox and the Fembot) and cool talking-tranforming-robots.
This is the movie every guy needs to watch... If you think you need a great plot, then make sure you down a couple beers to reclaim your "primal urges" and manhood before you walk into the theatre for what will border, sensory overload.
This was a great piece of art. End of story.

So I finally went to see this thing...
Not horrible, not too good. I actually liked it better than the first though.

If you can imagine it, it can happen...
Re: Transformers 2 a bust?!?
I finaly saw it the other day too... I was entertained for whatever thats worth. My kid loved it. Less Whitwickey more Transformers would have been nice. It is what it is. No Oscars there. They could have stopped after the first dog humping scene or skipped that BS all together. I think in the end it boils down to: you're either a fan or you're not. - Kinda like American Idol (but I think that show blows goats).

Terminator Salvation would be one utterly meaningless piece of crap, unless the strings hadn't been added that LFO to simulate 80's VHS.Tarekith wrote:I was going to see it today, but wussed out at the last minute and saw Terminator Salvation instead. If they did do that, that was a nice touch.LeifonMars wrote:Tarekith wrote:Terminator Salvation would be one utterly meaningless piece of crap, unless the strings hadn't been added that LFO to simulate 80's VHS.

One thing I liked about Revenge of the Fallen was the fight scenes. And you know, that's all I really care about. I just want to and watch a bunch of transformers I remember from my youth beating each other up. Optimus ripped shit up good.

Actually, I'd like to get verification for that: since I watched the film in a crappy theater in Finland, I wasn't sure was it because of the quality of their projector or because the strings were meant to sound like old VHS.ikeaboy wrote:If they did do that, that was a nice touch.LeifonMars wrote:Terminator Salvation would be one utterly meaningless piece of crap, unless the strings hadn't been added that LFO to simulate 80's VHS.

Re: Transformers 2 a bust?!?
First, i saw 1 and really liked it.
Ok, after reading the thread reviews for 2, I reduced my expectations to that of a 13 years old and was ready to dispense with any cornyness that would keep me from liking this movie. It didn't work. It's absolutely insulting to anyone older than 12.

Re: Transformers 2 a bust?!?
First time I watched I saw it on the net, and I just saw it in the theatre a few days ago, and although the plot is a bit all over the place, it's really grown on me. Fight scenes even better than the first, and pretty entertaining. There are too many people talking too fast the whole movie, like the script was so long they all had to talk really fast, but whatever, our expectations are too high. It's a bunch robots fighting. Optimus is my hero.
