Why few special offers for loyal customers?

Post by R.A.W. » Wed Jul 01, 2009 1:51 pm

Once again there's a special offer ("Summer of Sampler"). I, as a long time user of Live, would like to get some deals, too, from time to time. I think it's a good way to bind loyal, paying customers.. at least other companies do that.

Tbh I'm a bit sad that all those offers seem to be just promotional to get more old version and LE users to buy the full version and that we loyal customers get rarely good time-limited deals for buying additional Instruments or packs... sometimes I feel a bit foolish for buying the updates as soon as they are available (OK, not this time, as the "Summer of Sampler" only includes new purchases and updates from LE).

How do other long time users think about that? Don't you think we might get a chance to get a good bargain once in a while?

Well, I can't completely use it without Sampler. ;)

Also it wasn't about this deal only, I felt so many times before. New users get some great deals from time to time, but oldschool users get few deals if I compare that to other purchases I've made. E.g. Image-Line had some great deals where I bought one VST plug and got another for free... that was promotional, too, but it was open to everyone, even already registered customers.

a bit off-topic, but NI has a cool deal this month ...

http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/ ... omplete-5/

399 USD / EUR for Komplete 5

i don´t care if the abes don´t provide me with a hot deal, i own the suite and e.g. it was my decision to spend the money as soon as 8 was released (although there still are some issues with my setup). i knew what i had to expect and that´s fine.

btw, i´d be happy to get an ableton promo set shipped to my address ...

@ ableton marketing: please send me a bag full of promotion stuff.

thanks!

Universal Audio have a good model - they give UAD owners vouchers for their online store from time to time. And as a result, they have a loyal (and fanatical) customer base.

Dude, you just not paying attention or something. I discounted my way to the top (Suite). I started with Live basic and every time there was a promotional I took advantage of it. I think I've probably paid half of what suite cost by waiting 1 discounted or free instrument at a time.

Hmmm... now I'm at the top though. no more free stuff for me.

maybe the suite deal was good, but it was the all-or-nothing mentality there.. i'm not interested in everything the suite offers, so it was no deal for me. i also got the 30 bucks voucher for the live 8 upgrade, but let's be honest here, it just lowered the price to the same price of previous updates.

as for sampler: i don't need it as i got directwave (which is really a sampler and not only a sample player ;)), the summer-sale was just the start of myself questioning ableton's marketing strategy.

well, i continue to do as always and stick to live only and purchase VSTs from other companies.. at least i can use them in every host.

I, for one, am not too happy! I have used Live since v1.5 and upgraded to Live 8 just 5 days ago. I feel pretty sore that people who bought Live 8 in the last 7 to 14 days don't get included either! Wish I'd waited, but wanted version 8 to go with my APC40. :(

don't feel too unhappy, you wouldn't even be included if you had updated today.. the offer is only for new purchases and updates from live lite or LE.

Didn't you get the chance to upgrade everything to the suite for about 349€?
I think everybody got that deal. The 600€ discount.

i dont get it man what do you want?

they gave us discount coupons back in dec/jan for the update.
they gave half off updates from live 6 to live 7 when they announced version 8

we upgraded from live 7 to live 8 suite
7-8 was like 150 (or so)
7-8 suite was like 300ish
so for around $150 more you get suite lol
analog, tension, corpus, sampler, operator.............
personally i think that is a great deal

i'm downloading samplification right now.. thats pretty cool
and their is other content you can download from abes, puremagnetik, and other places too..

sorry i'm not trying to be a fan boy but what do want?
i fell special why don't you :P
