How to put chains of racks into different sends?

Post by Rafal » Wed Jul 01, 2009 11:27 pm

Dear Ableton users,

Please help me with one thing. I would like to have kick with all other percussion element in one rack,
and only side chain the kick in the master and put different groups of percussion into different returns,
is it possible? if yes , please help me!!

I was reading page 206 but with no results, I cant even put anything into 'Audio To' box in Drum Rack chain.

Pls help!

Hi Rafal,

You do not need to use the "audio to" box, instead you can set up a new audio track and use the audio from box to take the signal from one element of the rack.

Do you know that you can set up send / returns in the rack? On the left hand side of the rack underneath the buttons to show chains / devices / macros etc there is a show send / return button. Use this and then drag you effects into the chain view.

Not to sure why you would want the kick to side chain the master, it would then duck itself. You are better off setting up a duplicate kick on a seperate audio channel to give yourself more flexibility.

Hope this helps.

Thank you!

Yes, normally I send the kick to other empty return also.

I love the way that all percussion can be in one box and going into different effects, returns etc. Wow!

I couldnt do that in Cubase and with Battery I had three midis, one for kick, one for toms/snares and one for hihats, cymbals.

Quite frustrating.

again thank yOU!
