any Reaktor + Kore users ?
any Reaktor + Kore users ?
i'm spitting blood working with reaktor in Live. today at some point i thought i give up on it and have to let one of them to go, because there's no peace between those 2 berliner creatures.
but then i had an idea: KORE! i can host reaktor in Kore, letting kore bridge with ableton, hoping that Kore's rather solid, straight forward interface will function better, as any other instrument rack, inside Live.
i got Kore player and found out i can group it to an instrument rack, map the 8 macros to the ones in Kore, save the presets.. all good.
now am i understanding right: the full version of Kore will allow me to host reaktor inside it?? would it be possible to just open a reaktor ensemble in Kore? i still didn't get to the bottom of this the Kore concept and wondered if someone here is using it with Reaktor and can share experience.
thanks.

Yes, it's like you're expecting. You can host Reaktor inside Kore inside ableton. It's a good combo actually. Kore's a great interface for Reaktor instruments and the factory instruments come with Kore presets that are mapped out nicely.
I'm not sure what your problem is using Reaktor inside ableton, but the NI plug-in that benefits most from Kore is Reaktor imo.

+1; I bought Kore for exactly this reason & it works a treat.
Re: any Reaktor + Kore users ?
cool! so.. do you or can at all sequence with Kore? it has a built in step sequencer, as far as i understand. i guess it's very limited in it's arrangement capabilities but for this i can use Live. .
Re: any Reaktor + Kore users ?
The step sequencer is very handy but limited to one "state". You can't switch it to play another sequence if you're not using the global preset system for that.
What I like with Kore is that you can organize complete sets inside it using program change messages to select individual songs. Thus you can have (as an example) NI synths in one song and other VSTi in the next song. That way you're more or less independent of the CPU of your machine. Plus your Live set gets less cluttered - this at least is my experience.
Why not try the software demo of Kore (not the player itself)? It convinced me very quickly.

What are you saying here?Hertz SM wrote: That way you're more or less independent of the CPU of your machine.
Are you sugesting that the KORE hardware is carring the load of the CPU on your host computer?
Not to pick a fight, but i am under the impression that Kore its self does not have any kind of prosessing, it is only a passive controller.

No, the Kore software can switch thru various setups. Example:Homebelly wrote:What are you saying here?Hertz SM wrote: That way you're more or less independent of the CPU of your machine.

Song A: Massive - FM8 - Sylenth - FX...
---program change---
Song B: Reaktor - Firebird - Stylus - Omnisphere - FX...
---program change---
Song C: VAZ Mod - Nepheton - and so on...
Normally you had to load (but not activate) them all to separate tracks in Live. Of course you can open them song by song but I can't imagine anyone doing this. With Kore you just select your song via ProgChange and the app will load and provide all necessary plugins at the right time. When creating transition presets (example: percussion of Song A and Pads from Song B) you can smoothly move forward without trouble. No gaps, no breaks.
Summary: With Kore you can manage hundreds of VSTIs in your live set with just one midi track (for switching the programs) or the hardware controller if you bought it too. There's no fear about CPU because you only load what you need. If you want to achieve this with built-in capabilities of Live you need a) four arms b) five mouses and c) strategic skills.
Hope I could clear it up a bit. Don't hesitate to ask for more details.
ps. Live-only plugins don't profit from Kore as they are non-VSTIs.
Re: any Reaktor + Kore users ?
thanks guys for the input. NI now owes you one
i'm very impressed. it basically covers everything live can not do, and it's the first time that a full midi performance setup, inside Live, seems like reality!
pairing it with the APC on my desk would've make a killer setup, but APC will have to wait now.... tja.

Yup, there's an avalanche of stuff out there!
BTW what problem were you having with reaktor in Live? Was it mapping macros?

no. mapping macros solved long agorozling wrote:Yup, there's an avalanche of stuff out there!

first, i love reaktor but it's too much pain to work it standalone. Kore will surely solve this one for me. i can do my basic reaktor setups and then bring them into live, inside kore, developing more in session and towards the arrangement.
and then there are these issues -- a mysterious GUI freeze of live when using too many reaktor VST's. support didnt really nail it yet. reaktor crashing live like crazy.. and i just hope kore will shake it all up a bit and solve these glitches, without really knowing, technically, how the plugins are handled in live when kore is hosting them.

Re: any Reaktor + Kore users ?
it is a bit of a pain to have them work together nicely, but i really don't have that much of a problem to be honest...
i have the kore player and i just bought reaktor spark and since i can load it as an ensemble in reaktor or as presets on the player i realized the simplicity of working with the sounds when you let kore take control... true, you are not able to manipulate the sounds as much, but it is simpler to use and it crashes ableton less...
let's see if i can afford Kore now...

Re: any Reaktor + Kore users ?
That sucks, haven't heard of those issues before. It certainly seems to handle some plugs differently - I know the VST version of ARP2600V doesn't work in Kore on OSX but does in Live... actually I must report that to the NI guys !! Let us know how you get on.shai wrote:no. mapping macros solved long agorozling wrote:Yup, there's an avalanche of stuff out there!
