any Reaktor + Kore users ?
Re: any Reaktor + Kore users ?
With Kore, use the VST version of Reaktor; Kore uses the VST versions of NI stuff to simplify cross-platform compatibility.

hi ewistrand. thanks for chiming in. i don't know if you've read about problem i had with with reaktor in Live, but i had a little mistake -- the VST's instances of reaktor are those who drove Live nuts. now nobody knows exactly why, i wonder if you had such experience.ewistrand wrote:With Kore, use the VST version of Reaktor; Kore uses the VST versions of NI stuff to simplify cross-platform compatibility.

but my real question here is, without really understanding much about software architecture: how does Live, as a host, dealing with the plugins that are hosted inside Kore? does live "see" reaktor when it's inside Kore, or does he communicate with Kore only. hope that makes sense.
cheers
oh by the way, Kore can host Kore (or at least kore player)

I've heard more than one person recommend using the Reaktor AU in Live if you're using it outside Kore. Myself, I'm a PC user.shai wrote:i don't know if you've read about problem i had with with reaktor in Live, but i had a little mistake -- the VST's instances of reaktor are those who drove Live nuts. now nobody knows exactly why, i wonder if you had such experience.
It only sees Kore.but my real question here is, without really understanding much about software architecture: how does Live, as a host, dealing with the plugins that are hosted inside Kore? does live "see" reaktor when it's inside Kore, or does he communicate with Kore only. hope that makes sense.

Re: any Reaktor + Kore users ?
I'm probably gonna have a lot of hassle for this, but I don't understand what the problem with Reaktor is. As I see it, Reaktors strength is exactly the ability to change and edit the synthesize functions and create modules of samplers and synthesizers. So why in the world would you lock it up in a Kore interface. I can see the idea of Kore in a live situation, where you have to have your sounds at hand quickly, but for producing or composing I find that locking Reaktors possibilities in simple presets in Kore takes the whole idea out of it. And as I understand, almost all the presets of Reaktors default synths comes with Kore 2 when you buy it, so why even buy Reaktor if your not gonna use it?
And last of all, I find that the vst/AU part of Reaktor works astonishing. And with Live 8's configure button, parameters gets assigned so easy. Love Reaktor and love Live, could never dream of using it any other way then its pure form.

Live 8 + Reaktor 5 + Max/Msp/Jitter + Renoise + Logic Studio = Toneklang
Re: any Reaktor + Kore users ?
If you own Reaktor you can edit/create ensembles inside Kore. But - like you said - this is not the typical production situation. Imho Kore has three main advantages:toneklang wrote:I find that locking Reaktors possibilities in simple presets in Kore takes the whole idea out of it.
- helps you managing your show and makes it possible to use synths instead of rendered audio.
- it's a huge database of sounds including a good browser / most welcome when looking for the right sound
- it's like a premium Live rack with additional features (e.g. "chain select" by midi-channel, step sequencers, midifile player, ...)

Re: any Reaktor + Kore users ?
Benefits of Kore to Reaktor are numerous:
-Factory ensembles mapped nicely to macro pages for use with the kore hardware or an APC40 or novation SL or something.
-Ability to easily switch ensembles on/off, thus conserving cpu power when not being used (reaktor always uses power, not only when being played)
-Morphing (which is cool for all synths, but reaktor devices can be especially cool with that).
-Patch management when you don't know what ensemble you feel like using -> so you can start with a type of patch.

Who says you're stuck with single presets? I make templates for plugins instead of importing sounds for them; I hardly use the preset handling functions. And, the Kore library on its own uses very few ensembles and presets. The Reaktor factory library .ksds are part of the Komplete .ksd installer, and isn't usable unless you also own Reaktor.
