how do i deal with latency when recording into Live?

Post by formicah » Mon Jan 31, 2005 6:02 am

So i've made some nice drum loops and such in Reason, though when i use my maudio firewire 410 to record guitar into Live, i cant seem to get the track to sync up with the loop.

before i got the 410, i was using garage band, and when the latency was bad enough to notice, i would just remove the "snap to grid' option, and drag the guitar track into time.

I cant seem to do this in Live. any ideas?

And just in case it matters, the version of Live i got with the Maudio card is Live Delta version 2, and Reason Adapted Express.

So in Live delta there is a snap to grid option, though when i click it all i see is 'snap to quantization'.

is this what i need?

is there any way to set live to use a user defined delay in milliseconds to match up with the delay they tell me i have in the buffer menu?

thanks for the help guys

this is the absolutely most crap thing i have had to deal with in Live.

i can't believe they put the "record" button there with no way of automatically compensating for the delay in record start.

plugin delay and all the other latencies i can understand, this is just GRR aggrivating.

so much groove relies on such subtle timing differences
