Might be a noob question, but nonetheless do I need the help, hehe..

Is it possible to play two clips at the same time in one channel? It might be problem with the volume, but maybe there is a fix to that?

Thanks

the only way is to have two tracks playing two clips, its useless having two clips playing on one track anyway.

I can understand the desire... especially now that I have the APC 40, I want to do this same thing.

In fact I was just about to post a question asking this myself... just in case they slipped something new into Live 8. ;)

For live loopers, it kinda sucks to have to keep adding things to your set by going horizontally... then you are stuck "remixing" your set by scrolling left and right.

If I could just record anything into any of those slots and they played on top of each other, i could fill the whole grid on a single "page" if you will.

If you are a dj and come with all those slots filled, fine... but if you are performing artist and recording on the fly, all the slots below the first row become useless.

you can duplicate clips and overdub on the dupes (midi)

so then your previous clips are still there and are not useless

Mabe not exactly what you want, but you could group 2 tracks. and then start both by putting them in the same scene and clicking in the groups play button. Or seperatly, either by fireing the individual tracks, or by putting them in different scenes and removing the stop button on the clip in the other track on that scene (this way you don't even have to expand the group to start the tracks seperatly).

Audio clips will work just like that, with ableton synths/vst's/au's just put the instrument on one track and leave the other midi track empty and select "midi to" the first track in the in/out dropdown menu.

a workaround:

load the recordings of the clips into simplers. put them in paralell racks, set one to receive the note C2 and the other D2. Make a clip that has those notes and you're set. Two 'clips' playing on one channel.

I'm very interested in this (mainly because it's how I'm used to working - coming over to Live from Reason 4). For instance, if I have an instance of Battery 3 in a track, I'd really rather not have to make many instances of it just to be able to layer midi clips, when I'm using the same Battery preset for all of them - it seems like a huge waste of CPU resources. Audio clips, obviously you'd never need to play two in the same track, but it would be wonderful to be able to have layers of MIDI clips controlling the same VST instrument.
