Midi mapping Record Enable not obeying Exclusive preference

Post by Majnun » Sun Jul 05, 2009 9:01 pm

Is this being fixed any time soon?

Otherwise I'm stuck with using Bomes to store the last enabled track, and disabling when I arm a new one. :-/

Keyboard mapping respects the exclusive arm preference... but I've run out of keys, and for other reasons prefer to use midi.

Thanks!

:)

Hi Majnun,

working fine over here (8.0.4), as long as keys are not pressed simultaneously. Which version of Live / operating system do you use?

Best,

Hi, I can confirm this problem. With Arm Exclusive selected, it will work properly for a while (MIDI notes arming only one track at a time) then after a random period of time "forget" the setting, and will arm the newly selected track, but not disarm the previous track.

This is a worry as I am using Live 8.0.4 as a "sound module" or "MainStage"-type setup for playing keyboards with a live band. I have 16 of the programmable buttons on my Novation ReMote61 set to send MIDI notes which are mapped to 16 track arm switches. It's embarrassing when I suddenly play the sounds from two songs simultaneously. :?

I am not sending multiple MIDI notes at once as these are very deliberate button presses between songs.

Quitting and re-booting Live "fixes" the problem - until it faults again, after a random period of time.

Live 8.0.4
OSX 10.4.11
Novation ReMote61 (first model, not the SL) connected via USB
MBP M1Max | Sonoma 14.7 | Live 12.1 | Babyface Pro FS | Push 3T | clump of controllers

Pitch Black:

I've noticed some wonkiness with on/off momentary/toggle style buttons being mapped to on/off buttons in live, try changing the type of button press your midi device is sending and see if that helps.

The keyboard mapping should work fine, so if all else fails, get Bomes midi translator translating midi presses from your controller and sending Ableton qwerty keyboard key presses that you mapped in keyboard mapping.

I can confirm that this has been a serious problem since Live 4 and have had countless problems onstage. Would love to see this corrected Abes! Thank you.
