Not at home to give you details... but I'm fairly certain as long as you correctly set things up in the preferences it should work. You have to select it as a control surface in the drop downs, but also enable it's "remote" control option buttons.
I'm pretty sure this is described in the quick start guide:
http://www.akaipro.com/contentmgr/showd ... /id/210243
The tutorial that comes inside Ableton doesn't tell you about that part for some reason.
Also, you may need to have the update for Ableton Live (8.04 I think?)
Hope that helps.

route the returns back into audio tracks and you should be fineesky wrote:Bump, that's what i was asking, so no controls over the return tracks via the apc ? It would be great if the right arrow on the bank select would scroll over to the send tracks! Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: APC40 TIPS --- Share Your Brainz!
Hey guys, just got my APC and loving it. It's like a musician's toy, the way it allows you such intimate n powerful control of Ableton but in such a darn funky way
Anyway, enough gush. The tip I have is: if you don't want to allow APC direct access to an effect on a track, group it.
For example, I've got my processes set up on a track - stuff that shapes the sound like an EQ, reverb and comp. I don't need control of them via the APC, and I might accidentaly grab a knob and give it a twist thinking it's my delay, and instead ram a comp's ratio through the roof. By grouping the "processes" the APC goes for the group's macro knobs which show up blank, giving you a heads up. Obviously you can still nudge right and end up in trouble... but eh. If that's not cool then just flatten the track without effects I guess!
Another might be a little obvious but I'd imagine could be overlooked - Rack devices you wanna control simultaneously, for example ABL2 and D16 Devastator - I want to access the TB's knobs as well as the level of distortion - group and assign macros.
Hope that helps.

This looks like a potential way to add in some step sequence functionality to the APC without using MAX or M4L.
oh my gosh i wanna play drums on apc and switch to regular mode and stuff too. how am i gonna get those features. also more workflow features would be cool. i dont want to have to buy m4l for such "basic" tasks.
i'm still looking forward for more gigbags...
cheers

He is using Bomes to capture input and then send it back as key commands etc... and then sending midi data to the APC to light it up as he wants.
The "mode" is \him turning on/off various translators in Bomes.

how can i get it work on os x? i know theres iac but how would i have to set that up? (or wont it because of limitations in the mt version for osx
)

That's what I was thinking. I'm gonna try that.
Semi New to Bome's
Edit: 1)I can map the key strokes easily but they are short stabs. I don't know how to lengthen the midi note value.
2)I also can't figure out how to send data back to the APC to light up the pads.
3) I can't find keystrokes for turning the translator on and off.
Anybody know?
Is his APC preset available for download?

Others have confirmed that the "Mono 365" and the "NAMBA GEAR 'BIG NAMBA' STUDIO BACKPACK"
both fit a laptop plus the APC40 with room to spare.
