Live 2.01 and OS X 2.3 Audio dropouts

Greetings!

Recently I upgraded from Live 1.5x in hopes of better audio clarity and new features on my OS X performance platform which is a setup of this: G4Mac533 Dual processors/MOTU 828 latest Dec drivers/1.25Gb RAM/Adaptec 29160 U160scsi/2xATA drives each on their own channel.

I use a 700Mb RAMdisk loaded with oft-used audio segments, and larger segments stream from the 10K U160 scsi drive and an ATA drive as needed.

In Live 1.5- my arrangement had no dropouts of audio when pulling up to 18 audio layers playing at once from all three sources (ramdisk,scsi,ata drives). All was very smooth.

So I load the same performance into 2.01 and am really appreciating the enhanced interface and easier to access track/control automation....
but now I receive so many dropouts in audio even only with 10 layers of audio playing that it makes 2.01 unusable. I have ensured that the core audio settings for samples was at the highest allowed in Live- 1024- and still I get the dropouts. The CPU load isn't too bad- around 70% or less, with no disk-related overload warnings.
Loading the set back in 1.5 has things working without a glitch, and this most unfortunatly is where I must work until some performance enhancements are made to Live 2.x under OS X.

Please guys, are there going to be some improvements soon to get at least the performance of 1.5- or my MOTU 828 Firewire interface somehow to blame?

are you using any of the mda vst plugins? I noticed that some of them seem to have stopped working properly in live 2.01. after working intensely with 2 all weekend I definitely noticed some performance issues as well. the thing is, with osx 10.2.3, brandnew audio and midi drivers, freshly carbonized vst plugins and a new Live version there's so many factors on my osx machine that I don't want to blame Live for everything.. could be the culprit though..

The only carbonized VST plugs that I'm using is Ohmforce's Ohmboyz delay, which are currently essential to the set. All the rest of the plugs that are used are a few Ableton built-ins...
