Your Favourite Effect.....?
Your Favourite Effect.....?
Whats your favourite effect? Like when your working on a track is there a thing u start doing before anything else all the time, or just a particular effect you love working with?
(not on about particular products/native effects etc - although feel free to mention if you wish)
Mine is Reverb. I love how much power and atmosphere you can create and add to a track with the right reverb. Giving those big cruchy drums a huge arena to play in or the most delicate of synth lines the ambience it deserves.
3 cheers for reverb! haha.
and so on....

I love delay, but I do my best to hold out on using it... Still... I love hearing/using it.

Delay is probably the most diverse and useful
reverb also yields a lot of good results
my favorite to play with is dblue stretch

Delay definitely, 1/16T Ping Pong in particular, so trippy sounding.

Well i guess delay is kind of the best/most used effect.
But distortion also is awesome.
I guess that every effect is awesome in it's own way...
Also i'm looking for more effects...

Filters for me. I use them the most. I love wah-wahs most especially. One of the few effects you can really get your feet on.
Then Delays.
Then Delays.

Distortion/Overdrive - many people think oh you're going all 'Led Zeppelin' but in actual fact distortion has many uses, can make percussion or vocals pop out, and give that creamy sustained sound on guitars AND synths or organs - Hammonds sound pretty cool when you throw on some distortion, as do many analog synth bass and leads.
After this I would say modulation FX such as chorus/phase/flange. Reverb and delays are incredible depth FX, super convenient and adds lushness but can be recreated with micing stairwells or acoustic spaces to a degree. The Ramones first 2 albums and many 60s albums had no echo chambers or plates, but miced acoustic spaces such as hallways and stairwells. And going back to Led Zep - the drum sample from 'When The Levee Breaks' is one of THE most sampled beats and in dozens of dance records, it was recorded with 2 Neumann U87s hanging from the top floor of a mansion/stately home with the drums on the floor beneath in a long hallway corridor.

GRAIN DELAYS!
..ok maybe not my most used, but they're fun. Anything granular is just happy fun time.

My penis pump is my greatest personal effect.

Still using Live6...
EQ8 (though I wish it went down to 20Hz for high passes), compressor II, Saturator.
I slap those on every track typically... I also usually have 2 reverbs setup on sends, one with a bigger sound, one for a little air if anything needs it.
