Templates

Post by crofter » Thu Jul 09, 2009 3:31 pm

With Cubase I'm used to saving various set-ups as templates so I can start a project with a specific set of plugins and audio channels etc.depending on the nature of said project, with Live I only see the option of saving the default set, is there any way of saving such templates as a starting point.

not really.

I save template sets with a "_" in front of them, that way they're listed first in my Live sets directory.

make a folder in your library called templates
set up your chosen template
save the .als to the template folder

i have a few different setups in my template folder with different drum machine/synth/efx setups that are great general starting points for the techno or electro i happen to be making at the time

I save all my templates in a folder.

What's really great is that I don't even need to open the sets most of the time, but say if I want to add live drums to whatever I'm working on, I'll find my drum recording template in Live's browser and just drag and drop the tracks into my current set. So in a way what I'm really saving I guess is template group tracks with all my most used chains.

Thanks folks, I'll give it a go, I was looking for something like "save as template" as it is in Cubase.

Make sure you back up your templates folder somewhere, unlike the defaul set you can easily hit save and overwrite your template during a project.

Use a template to make sure that you hold the line. Place in the default folder.
