MPK49: using Midi mapping puts pads in on/off mode

Post by richardk » Thu Jul 16, 2009 10:17 am

Hi,

I'm following the 'Creating Beats' tutorial. After I've dragged the Backbeat instrument into the track, it reacts to some of the MPK's pads. So I've turned on midi mapping mode to re-asign the pads. However, this also changes the instruments reaction to the pads to on/off (tap the pad once gives you note-on, tapping again is note-off).

How can I change this?

(I like to stress here that I've not changed anything on the MPK; the change in behaviour is on the Live side).

Thanks.

Hi Richardk,

the Impulse device is "hard wired" to the notes C3-C4, so it requires to be triggered exactly by these notes, the pads cannot be midi-mapped. The factory preset 1 ("Live Lite") should be pre-configured for the use with Impulse (and Drum Racks) - you have to make sure that the MPK is selected as a control surface in Live´s Midi/Sync preferences.

Best,
