Most developers I've heard talking about quarters start Q1 at Jan.1.

Well anyone have any connections to find out?

I'm very curious what it should go by.

I guess it makes a lot more sense going by the calender year as opposed to a US fiscal year, which from reading is planned to be in line the with US school year. That just doesn't makes sense to follow.

Also using logic tells me I'm wrong, since a company wouldn't announce releasing a product in a quarter that's already over. I think I just like the idea that the product could be on the shelves at any moment since it would have been late... wishful thinking on my part.

i suppose you guys are accountants, controllers, finance managers? every company's fiscal year is different. we don't all run on the same schedule. microsoft, for example, ends their fiscal year on june 30. why on earth would a company, when speaking on release dates of their products to consumers (not stockholders), tell them the release date would be Q3 of their fiscal year??? that doesn't make any sense because, again, how is the general public supposed to know when that fiscal year begins and ends? the construction company i manage has a fiscal year beginning on January 1st as does the trucking company i am part owner on.

I used to work for a major finance company, so yes, that's where my thought process was.

So, assuming it's on the calender year, then these should be out some time between now and end of September???

doesn't really matter. if they said it was coming out Sept 1st would you bet it comes out on the 1st or at least 2 weeks later? even then, how long would it take your local store, or online store to fill your order? ask our friends in Canada and Australia about getting an APC.

I'm sure you'll be able to make slamming beats without one. ;)

BS! Everything sucks if I don't own one! I'm a piece of shit and should die! (Grandma's Boy reference... not to be taken literally).

Seriously, man... I was so excited over the nano series from Korg, only to discover on my own, after successfully ignoring everyone else, that they were pieces of crap.

Maybe Akai gets it right, or maybe they produce crap too, but either way... a little competition will eventually lead to a solid product.

And that does suck about the delays on the AP40.

I'm tempted to start buying them locally and sending them to people, it does suck.

I'm really happy with the construction of the APC. I'm cautiously optimistic but don't need more control surfaces. APC + BCR is great, the SL is falling by the wayside.

soon we can talk gear using only single letters. "my Q is great, works well with the Z but I might trade a D for P if I sell the F. anyone have luck with the S?"

the Akai units def have nicer looking keys then the nanokey. looks like you may get some better action out of those too.

my problem is that every time i get a new controller it becomes part of my set up instead of replacing ... but i scale up and down my live rig based on the show.. so if we do 30-45 minute sets and play with lots of band i bring M and M but if we have longer sets and play with less bands i'll bring M,M,D,B and soon A :D
when i get A i could just bring A and Big B but we will see about that

ok tell me to shut tone.. and then..

maybe the pads on that thing are better than on the mpk49. the pads on the mpk49 totally suck. you have to friggin' pound them to get a response. and having only 12 of them is, well, just pointless. need 16.

i'm thinking of replacing my mpk49 with an apc40 and some simpler midi keyboard. but, i need that keyboard to have at least 8 sliders, 8 knobs, aftertouch, and decent feeling keys. (i pretty much want an mpk49 but don't need pads or really even transport controls.) any thoughts?
