Getting imported audio to play at original tempo?
Getting imported audio to play at original tempo?
Stupid question, probably... but what am I missing here?
I'm adding an audio track to a movie file in Live; I've dragged a stereo, 44kHz, 16 bit wav file into a new track in my arrangement view, and it seems to be playing at the arrangement tempo, rather than at the original tempo of the song.
The video plays at the right speed whatever the tempo of the arrangement is set to... so why not the audio?
Thanks in advance!

Hang on... is it anything to do with the "auto-warp long samples" option in the record/warp/launch tab of the options menu?
Can someone please explain the function of this switch?

just turn off the warp button in the clip view, then the file will play at the original tempo.
Re: Getting imported audio to play at original tempo?
Thanks for your reply. I haven't gotten to grips with the warping functions of Live, yet... I tend to use it as a regular sequencer/DAW. If 'warp' is selected, presumably it warps all imported audio to the arrangement tempo?
Re: Getting imported audio to play at original tempo?
In the clip view you have a warp button, you can activate/deactivate this seperatly for every clip.
For synchronizing loop, DJing, making mashups/remixes...if you want to play a song/sample at the original speed you just have to deactivate it for that clip.

What does the master/slave button in the clip view do?Dexes wrote:In the clip view you have a warp button, you can activate/deactivate this seperatly for every clip.

I deserved that!
As I said... I haven't yet looked into the warping aspect of Live yet. I'll get on with the appropriate lessons tonight!

Alex, a handy non-manual way to get up to speed fast is to keep the help pane open while you use Live. Click the little triangle at the bottom left corner of the screen, and whatever control you hover the mouse over, a brief description of what it does appears. The help pane also provides additional info about some of Live's sound library presets (since Live
- hover over the preset name in Live's browser and see if further info appears.

the help window was the second thing I really loved about Live. first thing being session view in general.

if you control-click on it you will either be enslaved by Robert Henke for all eternity or become the Master of all DJs, depending on the whim of the great Ableton...

But when I click the metronome it doesn't match the clip... I think the problem is that I'm taking a clip from a (lesson mp3) file on my PC and I don't know how to get Live to recognize that source as the 'leader' (it.s not an Input Channel, of which I have 4).
