Anyone in for Operator group buy?
Ok, ok,... i get it. You live in this imaginary world where there would be a reason to sell Ableton Live. Switching DAW's and shit.
Personally i would never sell it. The Abletonians made my life so good.
Why would they stop now?
Please stop comparing the operator to fm7 or any other "cheaper" fm synth. They are fading away from the view of everyone who actually took the time to discover the operator.

(Frank?) Hoffman, I have been zealous at times in the past.
Man, is it ever embarrasing years later
Anyways, I would ditch anything that doesn't do what I need it to.
If you don't like something, tell someone, if they tell you they won't change it, then move on.
That's what I did with Apple and Reason.
If the Abletons won't add midi routing to Live, then I will consider something else (Tracktion?).
I try not to be Dogmatic about these things.

GO VEGAN!!! - Macbook Air, Bass Station II, Some Korg shit, Live Suite, U-He, Audio Damage, Microtonic, Ohmicide, more soft stuffs, awesome controllers, euro rack modular synth,an awesome cat.
Also, what do mean Rhino, Sytrus, and FM7 are cheap synths?
They are all sweet sounding, full featured FM synths!

Don't go and thinking that Ableton won't give you those midi routing ability's. Believe me. They are working their asses of.
I can't make you see things like i see them. But I'm pretty sure others see it too.
Live 4 is merely a blueprint of what making music in the future will be like. I'll bet you well see Live 5 before iraq sees democracy.

This is a best a poor substitute and impractical solution. I n my experience, Rewire has never worked for me as well as a VSTi or DXi within Sonar or FruityLoops. How would I automate Operator from Sonar, for example? You keep insisting that the operator cannot be used outside of Live. Thats not true. Almost any app that runs vst or au also has rewire. You can rewire Live to it.
I do indeed see the value of keeping operator as a Native Live plugin to avoid the vagaries of VST/DXi/AU, but as such Operator is of limited value to me as I still cannot comp midi in Live with the lack of midi notr preview - ie. notes sounding when clicked opon.
Best,
Gordon
Let's just say in the hypothetical case that Ableton gives us the ability to save tracks with effects, synths and clip automation.Kodama wrote:Also, what do mean Rhino, Sytrus, and FM7 are cheap synths?

Then the operator will kick all of those synths asses.
Don't get me wrong. It already kicks most of the synths asses, but most synths have built in effects. the operator doesn't.
On the cpu side of things, it's all about fine tuning.
You can make a patch that uses 20% cpu. Or you can make 20 patches that use 1%.
That spread feature is like Robert Henke said, "EVIL
So anyway if the price were good, my answer would be "Yes".
That's my whole thing w the OP anyways.
You should get more for paying another $150 on top of the $400 Live entry fee.

Operator Group Buy
No more than $80.00 would be fine. Sounds decent but very skimpy on features.

No this is not what I mean. I guess I wasn't being clear enough. What I want is to click on the notes themselves on a the grid and have them sound in place- This allows more efficent and more direct pattern authoring by mouse as well as being helpful in varisous other editing tasks. I have been using this in Sonar and Fruity for years and absolutely can't work properly in Live without it. It is now available in eXT It is supposed to be implemented in Live soon and will have a toggle option I understand.

Funny you should mention brain implants. Check this outleisuremuffin wrote:We'll likely see liveX (with optional brain implants) before Iraq sees democracy. Hmmm, and probably before the US sees democracy as well.hoffman2k wrote:like. I'll bet you well see Live 5 before iraq sees democracy.
