Creating a "whoosh" sound

Post by wa » Wed Jul 22, 2009 4:35 am

Can anybody suggest the instruments and audio effects I could use to create that "whoosh" sound that usually transitions between the intro drums of a dance song to the meatier parts(bassline and lead) of the song? Thanks!

White Noise, with a filter. Maybe ad some delay after the filter.

For a bit of dynamics, use your pitch wheel. A subtle slow movement can do alot. And automate panning if you want it to feel like something is "whooshing" past :D

There should be an effect called "Noise White" under Simpler. Add that as one of your tracks, along with ping pong delay. Once you've done that, try to experiment some with the filter and frequency settings on Noise White -- I find that increasing the frequency up until the breakdown can really build up the track, good luck :)

I like "woosh-ing" with an EQ eight:
* I leave only one filter on and put it on low-cut
* I automate a freq sweep from the lowest hz to the highest and "swoosh" the track into the higher frequency

Cheap and cool :)
