EQ 3 Style VST

Post by djwaxx » Tue Feb 01, 2005 5:34 pm

Anyone out there knows any VST plug-in with 3 band Eq (like Ableton's own EQ 3) but with the +0 dB centered?
I use it for my DJ sets and would like to get +0 dB when my MIDI controller knobs are centered, not 1/4 to the right..

Thanks

you could adjust your midi controller to only send a cc up to a maximum value of 64. This way you would reach 0dB by turning the knobs to the end without having to resort to another plugin.

I remember using this, not with live, but it handled like a "normal" mixer:

Maybe it's useful but... ugly interface and many features i just don't need. Just looking for an EQ plug or the right settings for EQ 3.
Thanks anyway for the advice.

I know what you mean. To my ears it changes the sound of the track to much adding a bump in the mid range. I love the kill switches though but would have prefered the three bands to sit at the 12 0 Clock position and sound transparent. Nothing I do with this eq gives me a neutral transparent sound. I have tried everything

I havent found anything I could use as a 3rd party eq with a simple 3 band eq section like a traditional analo DJ mixer.

I use EQ 4 and set 1 and 4 to Lo and Hi pass filters. Does the job fine.

I'd be interested to find out how you do that too, 16bit. I'm trying to get EQ4 to act like a 3 band eq like on a DJ mixer with mixed results. I disable the 4th parameter so there is only 3 and when I adjust them slightly I get filtered sounds - not eq'd sounds like when you adjust a knob on a mixer.

I'm using a UC-33e and a DM2. I use the line faders on the uC-33e for track volume, and the 3 rotaries for 3-band EQ'ing. I have the:

LO - 100Hz
MID - 12.5 kHz
HI - 18.5 kHz

I have the Bandwidth (Q) set to 0.40 on all the EQ's. Any suggestions? How can I get the EQ's to behave more like EQ's on a DJ mixer? The above settings give a good result - but to my ears it sounds like it could be better.

The best and only solution i think is to develop a simple plugin with centered knobs, like DJ mixers.
Any programmer out there can help? I don't think it's too complicated...

Perhaps you could try to build one in synthedit or Reaktor?

Sorry I´ve not the time to try, but it must be possible to do it.

Or the Abes could make a simple switch between a few modes?
