Problems with keyboard assign

Hi all,

I am a new live user and am just getting in to how everything works but I am having problems assigning keys on my computer keyboard to functions in live.

I click the key assign button and assign a key (in EQ3 for example) and I can see the key letter appear on the button on-screen, but then when I turn off the key assign button and press the assigned key nothing happens

I would be grateful for any advice to cure this problem.

is the EQ3 effect engaged?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes EQ3 is engaged, I can control it with the mouse before and after I try to assign the keys.

okay... which parameter on the EQ3 are you assigning to a computer key?
one of the kill buttons? or a knob parameter?

ah i know what it is...

go into your midi preferences under Active Devices : Input
select "Computer Keyboard"

Cheers mate.

I will try this when I get home. Worringly, I seem to remembers checking this and seeing that computer keyboard was already selected, i.e. It had a green square next to it!

I will post back tomorrow and let you know.

Got back on to Live last night, went through my preferences and checked the computer keyboard was ticked and now key assign works
