Too much good stuff here to take in, but:

warabunga - I like the in some sense dirty meeting of country and urban feeling in your piece. Small complaint about the repetition of for instance the horse - amazing when it arrives but tend to loose the feeling when it re-comes to quickly, it then gets in the way of itself, so to speak. A piece that made me glad it was, by the way!

Alex R - cant help it, I still like this almost puristic(?) electronic musical style(?). It's almost too clean but nevertheless fascinating. It's as being trapped in a waiting room with just one picture on the wall to look at, and after some time you are forced to be awakened by details you did not respond to at first glance and then you don't want the nurse to come for yet some hours.

Dance floor sweeper

Post by conny » Thu Feb 03, 2005 7:32 pm

Well, guess you have not seen me on the dance floor.

Compression is like 1:2980000

Some midi used is from Kleiner Satelit (Blümchen). The piano repeats every 5th bar, if you wonder why it sounds a little... Had some fun doing it, anyway.

No, not bad. Pretty loopy but nicely done. Nice and long like it needs to be. Incremental development. I can see me getting out on the highway on a Sunday afternoon. listening to this on the stereo and gradually ending up doing about 95 MPH...

Worked on it for a while, but I'm taking a break right now. It's not done yet.

This is just the intro. The rest of the track is nearly finished.

am: one night alone - nice title. Piece is, cant say really, unbalanced in some ways (which interests me, thats how I am...) At first the strings turned me off. The sudden drop of the strings then said: oh, he's not going to use them in the way we expect, but that feeling did not lead anywhere.
I like the non standard percussion sounds. I would like the plucked piano instrument to reveal its full body somewhere, like a climax to the end - full body exposed with lower register comming in for it.
Oh, talking about music...
The more strandard drum set and the bass are on another layer, almost another tune. OK, but the bass sound is 'wrong' for me, think a less resonant and warm one would be better to go with the 'piano'.
See - it got me thinking and listening!

thanks Conny! that's got me thinking too.. I know what you mean about the bass being "wrong" for the rest of the track.... I guess i like to juxtapose stuff, but sometimes it doesn't work too well... I'm definately wanting to go back and remix, and even rearrange the track, so i appreciate your feedback... It's good to get other people's musical ears involved!
