Hi everybody.
I just received my new MkII from Novation and I'm trying to integrate it with Ableton, in the hope that I can go live without having to touch my mouse anymore (fingers crossed). Ok, so I know others have had some trouble doing this, because the default template that comes for Ableton (template 32) seems somewhat limited. Here are my questions:
- How come there's no template editor for the MkII yet? I would like to make abackup of the factory templates before messing with them, but the old MkI template editor doesn't allow me to dump the templates to my computer since they are in the 'wrong format'. Anyone knows if there is another way to backup my templates?
- I had no luck editing the factory Ableton template, since Ableton doesn't seem to recognize some of the controls (the row of buttons mapped to transport, for example). I've seem something mentioned in Novation's answerbase about this, but nothing I've tried so far works... Any ideas?
- Another option is to completely overwrite the Live template with a new one and use Ableton's "midi learn" function to re-map the whole thing. There's a template available in the answerbase that maps all controls to send standard distinct CC messages, but it's for the old version of the SL (MkI). Do you know if I can safely use this
template with my MkII? Btw... why aren't there specific templates for the MkII series?? Oh, well...
Sorry for the long post. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
