Hallllp halp halp

Post by ogunslinger » Fri Jul 24, 2009 7:55 am

Hi, I just recently switched from fl studio to ableton, and I'm having a little trouble adding effects such as delay, reverb, etc to individual sounds such as hi hats, snares, etc inside the drum rack.

So I've mapped out a few of my beats, and I want to add effects to my hi hats and snare, and i can't figure out how to add them :[ sorry if this is like super noob, I'm used to fl studio, like just routing the sound to the mixer and add effects there

still trying to get used to ableton :[ halllp

just drag the effect you want from the browser onto the drum rack pad with your high hat, etc. you can drop an effect on the whole track, or on the individual pads...

You can even set up sends and returns inside of the drum rack.

This article has some info:

Yep, sends on drum racks are easy to set up.

If you don't want to dig through the SoS article, which is really good for other stuff about racks, look at my post here

In FL Studio you have to assign your sample to a track/slot on the mixer then add effects to taste. In Live you can assign almost anything effects wise to a single pad or the group as a whole in Drum Racks. You just have to watch out that you're adding to the pad versus the kit. Keep an eye out for how the effects racks fit within one another. If you don't know to look, you won't see that there is a difference... Does that make sense?

Check out the tutorials. There is one for Drum Racks. Its pretty good if I remember right. The tutorials Ableton puts out are overall pretty great. They're short, but cover what you need which in my opinion is perfect. Don't underestimate them or your ability to learn from them.
