most vj apps i know of don't do editing. If you don't want to get too fancy with editing yet you can do edits in quicktime ( full version ) or for free there's mpeg stream clip.

One thing that i've learned recently with video editing is to go in and edit video based on the musical bar. Idea being- you can cut up a video to a one/two/four/... bar phrase. Then you can tap out the tempo ( most vj apps have this ) and you will more or less be able to sync your video to a DJ/performance, you'll need final cut express or something similar for this.

I like that idea....

Do you think Live's video features are enough to stretch and render video clips as you would audio clips?

I use Arkaos VJ, used/tried Grand too but cant wait to hopefully move to some max4Live solution. I do not believe Arkaos team will ever get their sh...together (Grand misses some essential functionalities for pro user - "coming soon" since year and half and VJ is since over 2 years on Beta..., have 1001 bugs- you have to learn workarounds, painfully obsolete GUI) VJ apps market is just too small, Resolume, Arkaos and few others teams, are all good, dedicated people but there is too little money to let them work in truly professional way.
Module 8 is the only one worth spending your cash. If not that VJ jobs took nosedive in last few months (when budgets are cut live visuals > VJS are the first "can manage without")) I would probably get Mac just to be able to use Module 8.

vdmx syncs really nicely with live once you get your head around it.

i trigger my audio in live and send midi to vdmx which triggers video clips and handles all the video fx.

with the apc40 (or any midi controller really) u can map audio effects in live to work together with video fx in vdmx

endless hours of entertainment :)
