I did a Live 8 Looper demo/tutorial video

I hope this helps you some. This focuses on the ins and outs of getting the initial loop right, and if you don't get it just right how you might still work with it.

Nice video, nice vocals and nice foot, but where's the muppets?

I've neglected the looper, but will spend a bit more time with it and then watch again.

Thanks for the Looper love!

I'm diving in headfirst on Monday. Wish I had video capability to post results.

My thing is to do freehand loops and then drop in drum loops on top. I have found that 1 measure loops work best because there is less tempo flutter than in 2 measure loops, especially at slower tempos. Then when the drums get dropped, everything is tight. Once the tempo is established you can expand you loops to be longer. I have also found that triggering with my hand is tighter than using my foot. There is so much that can go wrong between my ears and my foot. My hand seems so much closer to my head!

I agree with all of this, and you can hear a bit of struggling at the slower tempos on the video. I play electric guitar, so I've trained myself to have 'stompbox reflexes' for a single button type device, but even so, when it is a matter of buttons 1,2,3,4 on the screen matching to pads 1,2,3,4 on a controller, your hands just know what to do :)

thanks for the insight Mike.

Looper's still totally broken for me. even when the progress blocks are orange it's not recording. today it's clearing the buffers at least and I can do a single take.

damn, I was soooo looking forward to this thing. it was a guilty pleasure to use during beta play time, I mean testing time.

That's a drag. I wonder if some spurious midi is triggering your clear button? Is this with a controller attached?

I would like him to say "I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that."

Also, it said I would laugh and cry. I didn't cry, can I have my money back?

Mike, what do you mean by "spurious"? Random midi info?

Thanks for the vid, it did clear up my confusion with set tempo in Looper.
Still got some weird s*#t going on with it however, clicks and strange behaviour of the multi switch....not giving up tho..........
