I had an odd crash last night while trying to ungroup some audio tracks. No big though, the project reopened fine.

what a thread. Mad props all around.
Also, Live 8 is fine for me. I use it at gigs every weekend. I've been recording an album (several hours a day type stuff) for a few weeks. I can remember one crash. I don't run any 3rd party plugs. Guitar Rig every once in awhile.
Kranky i'd be interested in your sources. Who on the forum is the horses mouth? Do their systems match yours, and that's why? Are they also rewiring through PT (just assuming that's what you do, idk) Just wondering who i should also be listening too.
And i don't want some phantom bullcrap. I want names![]()

naw dude, I ranted too much and in hindsight didn't really enjoy going that hard with lm. I like the dude but went to far me thinks.
I just don't like the way abes does biz and say so. That's all, no big whoop, but it's serious for some fans. Farts in the wind really.
I should save any commentary for 8.0.9 but abes could say what to use and what not to use regardless. Would save lots o headaches.

y'know what, kk, there are a lot of topics that i would love to talk to you about and that i would respect you're opinions on greatly. I would love to spend a day sitting down with you and picking your brain about tracking and mixing. ....But, when you open your mouth about ableton live, i feel like the only reason you open it is for me to stick my.... well, y'know. It's just silly in my opinion to say all these disparaging things that you have absolutely no back up for other than your unidentified sources and unfounded speculations on how the company is run. When you're actually using the software i won't have any problem with you saying whatever you experience. But all that said, i want you to know i have nothing against you personally. In fact i'd love to have a drink with you, i'll show you some live and electronic music tricks if you show me some engineering ones.

PS, the abes have a system requirements note in their faq and maintain a list on this forum of 3rd party plugins that cause problems.

Cheers my friend, i like your style and no worries at all. But yes, my views on how the company runs are pure speculation. Absolutely correct there. And I gives abes shit cuz i want them to bring live to where "I" think it should be, lol. And maybe not lean on their users as much as they do, but most seem content with that so no point there. And there are some elements i find too aggressive on the marketing biz front too, but that's biz. That is my not so humble opinion based on nothingleisuremuffin wrote:knotkranky wrote:Jekblad wrote:phew!

Re: How often is Live 8 crashing on os x on your setups?
Managed to narrow down my main crashes to this :
Seems like when in loop mode I get the most crashes,
mainly the dreaded loud pops and/or bursts of noise
which have now resulted in taking my soft tinnitus
to epic proportions !!!
If there's alot of automation going, crashes seems to
be more frequent. The crash usually manifests with the
above mentioned bursts and a blow out of either left
or right channel on the master.
If this is down to 3rd party plugs or not, I'm not
sure. Too many to narrow down right now. I use a ton.
Also, record in loop mode then undo 90% results in a crash.
Now I'm holding on for an update with an anti tinnitus plug !

Re: How often is Live 8 crashing on os x on your setups?
i get 3-4 crashes a week, after doing things like moving a file in the browser, collect all and save, flatten, grouping tracks - but not every time i perform those actions. nothing damaging, it's just annoying to have to relaunch.

Re: How often is Live 8 crashing on os x on your setups?
it however seems to be helpfull to di the latest pro applikation update from apple... at least my crashing rate is drastical lower.. but i dont push the system so hard ..
However..wouldnt be the first time that apple pro applikation updates improove audio affairs on a mac..
In general it seems that os x 10.5.7 seems to be a quite common factor in the crashes...
anybods has it crashing on os x below 10.5.7?

Hm, I don't have any of those applications. You think that update would make a difference anyway?heavensdaw wrote:Would think its this http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/a ... 00803.htmlslirak wrote:Excuse a guy who's fairly new to OS X - what's that "apple pro applikation update" you're talking about?3phase wrote:it however seems to be helpfull to di the latest pro applikation update from apple... at least my crashing rate is drastical lower.. but i dont push the system so hard ..

Re: How often is Live 8 crashing on os x on your setups?
Live crashes randomly on me infrequently but it does happen....but there is one annoying crash that keeps happening when I try to use any of Lives file browsers, so they are totally unusable for me right now and its making things difficult....
Im on a MBP 2.93, osx 10.5.7 and live 8.04...using mostly recorded audio with a virus TI and reaktor spacemaster plugin and some native ableton effects...
wrote ableton support a mail last week...still no reply...

Re: How often is Live 8 crashing on os x on your setups?
Pro aplikation updates might fix core audi and midi issues.. wouldnt be the first time.
And all applikations using this core services would beneft from such updates than.
Last year a pro applikation update pushed the miditiming from osx from 1-2ms jitter int the 0,1 ms jitter region..
As good as an Atari !!!
So its no mistake to watch out for pro applikation updates...
Even when it might be accidental that the crashing has stopped for me since i installed the update..
i will watch it.. as said bfore.. my system will be stressed again next week... i can tell more after that
