Two questions from a Live noob!

Post by clarkf » Tue Aug 04, 2009 7:08 am

Whats up guys!

I got two issues I cant seem to find my way out of.

1.
How do I change the swing/shuffle of a set?

2.
When I record audio, I don't know how I make them clips (like the midi tracks, so I can play around with them in the session view as in the tutorial)

Appreciate any help, thanks.

1. Are you using Live 8? If you are you need to look up info on Live 8's new groove pool feature. If you're using 7 or below there should be a number up by the transport control between the time signature and metronome that is called global groove amount or something like this. Feel free to correct me on that anyone..

2. Are you trying to cut up loops from a longer recorded section or just record into the slots in the clip view?

Thanks for the quick reply.

1. I'm on Live Suite 8. Youre right, theres no number on the transport control for groove amounts.. I tried to load up my Midi drum clip into the Groove Pool but didnt get any effect out of it... Strange...

2. I'm trying to get audio I've already recorded to behave the same way as my Midi clips does in the Session Clip view. When I record audio, it doesn't show up as it does in the tutorial. (With the little play button on the left side, like my Midi clips have..)

Never used the groove pool I am interested in how it works but it's way low on my things-to-learn list.

Are you "recording" with the global record button at the top? or you're doing it by recording into a clip slot?

Arm your audio track, all the stop buttons will turn into record buttons, click the clip slot you want to record into, it will start recording on the next bar when the red clip shows up, click again on the play button next to the recording clip and it will stop recording and start looping. It should work the same way as your MIDI track assuming you have audio being fed into it. Sorry if I'm telling you stuff you already know I'm just tryin' to hit every base.

Hope this helps.
