Why? Don´t you have to map the buttons for every single project?

yeah the handshake rules, but ohm 64 is a made in the usa product and feels much better then the apc, great faders and knobs and really nice finish, not cheap plastic like the apc. What i do is make a project then save it. I also like the fact that the ohm is more open, i can change the presets, midi mapping, make the led's do more by sending midi messages, and I use it with other software, not just live. apc sucks when using it with module8 or tracktor, so it works better in our setup. I also bought mine unfinished and put my own stain on it, something very cool for diy like me.

i know its not the same but you could just make a default template for ableton and allways use it to avoid having to set it up every time ......i got bored of working like this and at least for me the apoc was an easy desicion, i mean what does the ohm have that the apc doesnt really? when you think that max for live will cover control over everything that the apc can do....so apart from the 8x8 grid what is the ohms appeal for everyone?

I don't think you'd need a max patch at all. They just map manually in midi map mode in Live, right?. I've been debating this question lately too. It looks like the Ohm64 is built a bit more solid than the APC, also comes with the VJ software. But the crossfader is kinda in the way of the bottom row of buttons :?

You can use bomes to set up a second third fourth etc scene that is in addition to the red box controls, i've og tmine so that on a second scene i have got three state switches so that the crossfader when mapped can be quickly changed on the fly...

There is literally no end to what you can do with the APC if you give it a little time!

Cheers

If you are in Oslo you can pop in to multima or filter i think they have an apc you can try out.

the controls on my ohm 64 are way better feeling then my apc. I also like the fact that it is made with local and ethically sourced parts in the us, not many companies left are doing this besides monome. i would rather support a small company doing cool things then a large corporation making things cheap in china. the fader is not in the way for me, but i use it a lot so it is usually on one side or the other. i do wish the leds could change color but i will trade usb power for that. there are a bunch of open source max patches available for it, and the midi mappings are editable so if you want to use it with something other then live it is perfect. i also would rather perform with this then the apc because it looks and feels a lot better, but the apc does have some nice features.
